Default Boss Frog V8 Kit

How long has this been in development? Am I really far behind or is this relatively new?

This is my first post. My reason for existence is putting an LS engine into every Japanese car I can get my hands on. I have an LS7 in my 93 RX7 (got permanently banished from the FD world for that), I'm putting a low compression 427 LS into my Datsun 280Z (previously a twin turbo 383 small block Chevy until the LS7 put 550 RWHP with just a cam!). I'm definitely gonna put a T76 turbo in the Datsun before it's all done.

I just acquired a Greddy turbo'd 92 Miata as a daily driver. It's got all the suspension goodies so the handling is on par with the FD. I have to resist putting an LS2 in this thing, so please don't post any more conversion kits. Please?

Here is an early trial fit of the LS7 in my FD. It was a monster when it ran. I had to have it rebuilt because I blocked off an oil passage and it died a very painful death. The LS7 is assembled under sterile conditions in Detroit by master mechanics with 25 years of experience. I decided I could assemble one myself even though this was an entirely new engine family for me. What a dope!

Here's the Datsun with the SBC and two turbos. Fast, but the new detroit iron, I mean aluminum made more power, so out it went.

Please pray for me. I have to cure this compulsion and keep the Miata "stock"

Actually that's only two, I'm pretty sure Flyin Miata is just a distributor for V8 Roadster.

Came at just the right time... Thanks for posting that up. Now they just need to make it, and not say "Coming Soon".

Same boat here. If I want a LS1. I'm going to get a camero. They are retarted for their prices. Have you looked at the Monster Miata kit price. You can buy a cherry 5.0 mustang for the price of the kit. And the kit doesn't come with the motor.
I admit it is cool, and has to be powerful. I'm too practical to buy it.

Why not have 2 toys for the price of ONE!

No, it's three. He forgot MonsterMiata: http://www.monstermiata.com/ Yes, they do still exist. I've been to their shop in San Marcos. A small place that mostly does custom plumbing fixtures, but they do still turn out a Miata every now and then.

"Turn out a miata" as in a kit, or they only build the cars completely now?

Actually, I think they'll do it three ways. You can buy a turnkey car, you can buy a complete kit, or you can buy the plans and piece together any specific major pieces you don't feel like fabricating yourself.

I have no idea how many kts they're turning out. I was there about a year and and there was only one turnkey Miata in the shop, which appeared to be mostly complete. It was, IIRC, preparing to receive a small supercharger.

V8roadsters
Racing Concepts
Boss Frog
Monster Miata

All these companies have V8 kits, but MM is a Mustang 5.0 swap. They're working on a LSx swap iirc.

Id love to have a V8 Miata someday. I just love to imagine what other people are thinking when they hear them on the streets.

I think once I get into the Air Force I'm going to start having parts shipped back home for a V8 swap. Hopefully by the time I get out I've got enough interior/exterior/and V8 parts sitting int he garage to keep me busy for a couple months before I decide I want to work again.

I think I'll stay turbo for now. I will crank the boost up to 25 psi as a daily driver. After a couple of years of this, I'll need a new motor. I wouldn't pay that much for the conversion kit though. I'd get myself an old fron subframe to make a model a new tubular V8 subframe. I could even improve on the suspension geometry. I would still use the old control arms. Of course, I would build myself a new rear suspension carrier for a different pumkin. All in all, I would have invested about $200 in materials and a day in labor.

I like the writeup on the FM site. Folks are always saying that you'll ruin the handling/balance. Well, they cornerweighted their LS1 car and it weighs about 2500 pounds, which is what the same car weighed as a turbo car. Tell me how that's gonna ruin the handling. My FD weighs 2700 pounds with a better weight distribution because I put the battery in back. Think of it as a Z06 Vette with 500 pounds less weight and slightly better handling

personally I'm leaning towards a twin turbo klde instead of building the BP. Just need another daily driver first.
