yeah but it wouldn't look good without the hood too.

looks like a big PITA to put the car up on that ramp system.

i think it would look good without the ugly vent in the hood. Reminds me of the old "cult" s4 bumper I had on the jetta.

Not bad. Being black hides some of the ugliness of the hood

Dunno. It's only been in my possession for about 90 minutes, and it's like 30F out today. Looks like it will work. *maybe* I'll get a chance to drive it on Sunday and find out..

Have you had any time for further testing?

Yeah it works. In particular, the vents on the sides move a ton of hot air out. If I were making a hood, I'd put a pair of extractors towards the sides and not worry about right behind the radiator.

I've had a pair of thin slits cut about 5" back from the back of your back side vent for about a year now. I did tuft testing and IR thermostat testing on the vent and it does move a bit of hot air out of the area, both at idle and at speed.

Have you gotten a chance to plug any of the holes and do some testing?

You mean... like run the stock hood?
No I haven't done anything scientific with the new hood. It's winter, I'm busy, and I know that it works.

New to the site. An autoXer friend directed me to this post! Damn good info too!!! Well I need to vent the air from under my hood too. Heat isn't the problem. Its getting the air out of it at speeds of 170mph plus! I have a few good videos of the ca running and the hood lifting! Haven't played around at thoughs speed until the car gets a hood that well vent. Either one I mod. or buy! Here is my site www.ls1miata.net

Lots of inspirational fabrication photos on the photo site. I'm definitely referencing your driveline work when I get around to upgrading mine.

If the vents to the sides do most of the work. What about putting a couple of these cheapo ebay vents in a stock hood. I was thinking about running them with the ridges going front to back. Ghey??

Fake CF vents = gay. Paint them, not so gay.. as long as they work.
