We'd love to but our car doesn't have enough fuel system to support 7 psi. It's lean enough as it is (13:1 or so) at 3.5 psi...

Anyone got a 12:1 vortech calibration disc they're willing to part with?

That would require measuring and precision, which these guys reserve for when they're being paid.

And I mean that in the most loving way a heterosexual Miata owner could.

measuring/cutting a 2.72" diameter circle and then drilling a hole the center would not be that entirely difficult.

Installed the hardtop today:

Initial configuration was the low-drag, superspeedway setup:

But after some consideration, we realized the turbo gives us enough surplus power that we don't have to worry about minimizing drag, so we switched to our high-downforce configuration:

As you can see, there is both a mild kick-up about 6 inches from the end, plus a 1" Gurney flap. The kick-up is somewhat flexible, thanks to the thin aluminum consutruction, and should flatten out at speed. We're thinking the active aero should get us a second entry in the "best use of banned F1 technology" compeition.

We also made a new support bracket for the intercooler so it doesn't just hang from the hoses. All we had to do was thread the end of the jack handle with a 10mm x 1.25 thread and fart out a couple of beads from the metal caulking gun and it was good to go

HT looks clean.

You should produce those and make a group buy.

I agree. Us tall drivers have been stuck with and cursed by these unfortunate factory hardtops. I want something to keep the elements ... from scraping my scalp off.

Why not pickup a bootleg fuel pressure regulator so you can run more boost?
eBay Motors: FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR BMW E36 E46 E90 M3 MINI COOPER (item 120332751931 end time Dec-11-08 20:21:10 PST)

Wouldnt this assist in raising the fuel pressure enough to run more boost?

Hello!? If you have a Miata, you have this hardtop already, all you have to do it unbolt it from its current location and rebolt it to the top.

Get to it!

I want both. though in emergency rainstorms at speed I have a special "conversion" lever I can pull to move the device from the front of the car to the top of the car. it has a few kinks.

Got rid of our parts car this weekend.

In case you were wondering, that's $15 worth of steel you're looking at.

I ran into that guy when he was testing at streets of Willow a few months ago. it was pretty quick, but since we haven't had ours on track yet, I can't really guess who is faster.

Biggest worry with that car is chain durability. Short chain means higher duty cycle on each link. Odds of shitting a chain out the bottom are pretty high. Maybe we should do something to protect our belts from damage when we run over his chain...
