i just wanted to double check this before i go ahead and finish my setup.

as brain has in his writeup...

"Another easy method would be utilizing what you already get in the kit. Since we don't install Q4, we can use that transistor to drive the circuit.

Simply swap Q7 for Q4, and run JS0 into the top leg of R27. And jump the flat side of the middle LED to your harness. That's it."

1. am i correct in pulling the R27 resistor out of the side closer to the heat sink and jumping it over to the proto area then jumping that to JS0?

2. jumping the flat side of the LED to the harness is done how/where?

i just got a little lost here.

thanks

Just a heads up on the fans mod, I found it to be unnecessary to even do what Joe has done (changing R27 orientation and jumpering to JS0). All I have done is replace the transistor with the ZTX450 and placed a jumper wire from the flat side of the LED to one of the spare output pins. In Megasquirt, set LED18 to Output 4 then in the Shift light/fan/Output 3&4 you can set it to also be a fan control, leaving JS0 open for another item.

I could never get Output 4 to work. The signal was always trying to modulate, and it wasn't giving enough power out to actually activate the fans. I tried it on 3 different MS boards before just doing it this way.

and my name is not Joe.

Sorry for the wrong name Scott. Odd you couldn't get it to work, seems to be ok for me.

i fished the mod late last night. (what a bitch it is to pull out that transistor). i havent played too much with my jimstim and megatune....but i did notice that my middle LED on my ms doesnt light.

is this just due to the mod or did i possibly botch my soldering?

I've just done this mod as well and have noticed the same, does this mod sacrifice the CTS LED?

Call me a ricer, but I didn't want to dick with the LEDs, so I did it the traditional way.
