Default Setting up idle manual

New manual for you if you are struggling with idle its a little bit of a read but should be detailed enough to stabilize even the worst case of the idle hunt.

Just reading, thanks it sounds really good.
I've only had my adaptronic in for a few days, and it's generally great, however the idle does seem a bit high, so it's going to be the first thing that I fiddle with.

Travis,

Thanks for such a delightful manual! I have read through it and am at the AC settings... wow what a difference!

I do have a question about Step 7....... I have maxxed out my proportional gain but still do not have any idle hunting? Is this normal and is there a default setting that is suggested or did I miss something here?

Also back in step 5B I set my extra effort all the way to 10 but for some reason I get hunting... every once in a while the idle will dip but then it will hunt like mad unless I set to 10; but the idle goes to 1100-1200 RPM. I think it is my extra effort for electrical load since the fan being low vs. high seems to make the problem worse. I will read the manual pp86-89 and see what more I need to do; but again some advice is always good.

Anyhow, this really made my car sooo much happier and I thank you for the manual! It is great!

Thanks,
Prospero

The Miata idle system is comprised of two parts. One is the manual set idle air adjustment screw. On some vehicles this actually very slightly props open the throttle blade, but on the Miata it opens a port. It’s the same function just a different way to go about it. This lets air in and allows the vehicle to idle in case there is some sort of electronic failure with the more complicated part of the idle system. Clockwise rotation increases air flow, and counter clockwise rotation reduces air flow.

You sure? everywhere i see, it says counter clockwise to increase it.
