I had just got done washing the car today and taking off the hardtop since it was a good 70* out. I took it for a spin with the top down and while on the drive the clutch started slipping slightly in boost. Then as the drive continued it started getting worse and worse and was slipping out of boost. I adjusted the engagment point last week and everything had been fine. So I went back to the last thing I did and went to check the adjustment. As I rotated the rod I heard a whoosh of pressure releasing and the rod got easier to turn. So I took it back out and everything was fine and dandy holding strong at 9psi again. Is the master in need of a rebuild?

you *may* have opened the hydraulic system adjusting the rod.

did you try bleeding it?

not yet, too tired after washing and detailing three cars.

going on a different line of thinking, you may have adjusted out too much, causing the rod to actually engage the clutch a little. this may have lessened the clap of the pressure plate. the more you drove the more it slipped under boost. more it slipped, the hotter it got, until it slipped without boost.

you may have also glazed your clutch disk.

hmm, it had been driving good for about a week with the same adjustment. It just happened under normal driving conditions. I'm thinking something caused it to stay slightly engaged and when i fiddled back around with it, it released the pressure and fixed the problem. I might try rebuilding it all and seeing if it happened again. I did adjust the rod back down slightly as well with the same line of thinking.

this might work lemme check it is either this or a whoopi cushion effect.

Sounds like a master or slave cylinder. When was the last time they were replaced?

this is old...it was the adjustment rod lengthed too far out, the clutch was not fully engaging and slipping in boost.
