Ok I am new to the Emanage scene, and so I am gonna write an Idiots guide to the Emange (at least this idiots guide). To start with what do you get with the base kit....

1. ) The Main Emanage Box (henseforth know as "the unit")

2.) The Main Wire Harness ( Included with the unit) which is only half populated with wires....

3.) I ordered the additional E-Mangage Ignition Harness Kit

Which you can use for both ignition and fuel with a little work... It comes fully populated with wires which I believe you rob to work the fuel portion of the box....

Step One - Set the Unit up for a 89-93 1.6L Miata according to the manual....

Take the cover off with the supplied allen wrench....





Adjust the first three calpots to 3 - A - C : This is for 1.6L Miata

Next rework the main wire harness and move the three wires on the right side of the plug to the left side of the plug.... looking at the map in the backround...

Next I put the Ignition harness on a diet, I hate extra usless wires....

It seems kind of a waist that all you need are the four left wires....

Next is splicing the wires for the injectors: (1 spices to 3)Blue and (2 splices to 4) Yellow. I used some of the extra wire harvested from the Ignition Harness to fill in the 1 and 2 wire holes then cut, spliced and soldered the wires together.

I used heat shrink, and if you do remember to slide it on before you splice the wires together then move it into place....

Easy as pie...

now why didn't i think about that? splicing the wires together on the e-manage harness end instead of the friggin engine harness end? :duh: !!!!

Ok, I wanted to make the Emanage a little more Plug N Play, so I did a couple of things....

1.) I added connectors to the power(red), ground(black) and other (Brown). I snipped off a little bit of the same wire to splice into the wiring harness. This will make pulling the harness a little easier but not necessary at all.

2.) I combined both connectors into one group of wires using a mesh plastic conduit that I found at Fry's. It is much more flexible and better looking then the stock Injector Harness conduit.


The old conduit is on the outside... new is one is around the wires.


I like the JT&T Sleeve much better than the stock conduit:


I am thinking of mounting the emanage in the glovebox for easy access....
This has a much cleaner look.

These Pics show which wires are "cutters" and which are "tappers".

Cutters are wires that you cut at the ecu and the Emanage is wired in between.

Tappers are wires that are just tapped in order to get power/ground or signals from the Cars ECU.

Note this only works if you use the same color wires in the same spots on the Emanage Harness as I do in the pictures.... Please DONT BLOW YOUR **** UP!!! Go over everything 2X - 3X. Speaking of which, can someone verify my instructions.....

Now for the GM 2Bar Map Sensor. Here is a pic with the part numbers. The cheapest place to get this is GMpartsdirect.com. I think the MAP Sensor was 38ish and the Pigtail was 18ish(Ugg). Part numbers are GM - 12569241 and 15305891 or AC Delco Part numbers 213-1520 and PT1035.

The Two Bar sensor has labels on the back of the pin connector as A B and C.

A= Ground
B= Signal
C= 5.0v Power to Map

The emanage is set up as follows: I used the Internal CD Drive Audio Cable to connect to my Map Pigtail and off we go. 5.0v to 5.0v ; Signal to Signal and Ground to Ground. Wahla = MAP sensor ala Dummy Style.




Solder and heat wrap everything and tidy the whole deal up. I think you choose "Greddy Sensor" in emanage as the type of sensor.

Thanks, They should be there for a long time, but a backup is always nice. I think I am gonna install the emanage this weekend and piddle with it a little.

Well the next part should be splicing and dicing, but I like to try different approches to solving problems, so here is my wiring in an Emanage to the ECU stab.....

I figure instead of slicing and cutting up the very hard to replace wiring harness, buy a cheap replacement ecu (and 1.6 ecu are cheap on ebay $20-$40) and tap and slice into the ecu itself....

The best part of this for me is that I could do the wiring in my warm office as opposed to the cold garage.... What do you guys think? am I crazy?
