Default incessant begging: Chatroom

We used to have a chatroom. It went unused for a number of years before the ownership change. Then we started to use it because we realized that we could flame someone instantly after they typed something idiotic. Those were glorious days. Then it was promptly removed, vanishing before our eyes while we slept one night. I want to make a formal request to reintroduce the chatroom, finally bringing peace to middle earth.

In all seriousness though, I miss the chat and I'm sure a bunch of the other regulars do too. Those of us fortunate enough to have computer access during the day, and get paid to do very little. We need our chat back.

Does this not defeat the purpose of a Forum....

I'd say no. The forum has its purpose for asking questions.

The chat is for those of us that are long time members or hell even those that aren't that just want to shoot the **** during the day. Chat is instant communication, forum is the equivalent of email.

You'd probably see a slight decrease in the bullshit section but other than that chatrooms don't usually take away from traffic on the forum.

This.

I honestly think it will help cut the clutter we use the threads for. When I first joined a lot of the discussion was more technical, almost write-up or atleast well composed posts.

Maybe chatting out the little junk will make the threads more valuable discourse, and easier to garner information from.

Or we can all just share our gchat addys.

Another +1 to the chatroom, although limiting it to subscribing members or making retards take a test to get access seems like a necessity.

Edit: I realize that not everyone who is a regular is a subscriber. Can you limit access by post count?

Thats what I do right now. But in between moments of scott ignoring me and me ignoring him, I need the ability to frustrate and antagonize others. The ability to do that to all parties simultaneously is imperative.

Neo: Scott is bad about ignoring. I hate him sometimes.

Jeff: Invites.

I thought I already had you in my gtalk but I guess not. I think I had you on AIM maybe before, but I stopped using that at least a year ago.

Along the lines of the gchat deal. Was the chat here just a public place to throw stuff out on, or did you have to initiate chat between yourself and another member(s)? I'd like to know how this works.

Neo: I never use AIM or the like, only got into gchat because it was there, and my boyfriend had gmail.

It was a public chat. It was like a secret icon at the very bottom of the homepage that no one ever knew about. Then the chosen ones began to revive it and prosperity enveloped the land. Woodland creatures were able to roam free without fear of the dark creatures attacking them.
