Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Hey - A few quick questions
I'm trying to decide on a FPS to play out here in A-stan on my laptop, in single-player mode and against friends. It would be great as a bonus if the same game could be loaded into multiple computers so we don't each have to buy our own copy.
1. CoD franchise or BFBC2? I've heard something about "forced" Steam registration, which sounds like it'd be a problem for someone without an internet connection on the comp (I post from gov't and MWR computers nowadays).
2. Most of the games out claim to be for XP/Vista. Can I assume they would work on 7 or would that be incorrect?
TIA

CoD MW1 is not linked to Steam and can be played in a LAN, CoD: MW2 is hosed with Steam and their server setup. For coop mode There's Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior 2 (GRAW2) that has a cool multiplayer and coop mode. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 also has good MP and coop modes. Operation Flashpoint 2 is pretty good too and can be installed on multiple PCs. BFBC2 is good, but for few people it might not be as good as you need to make teams to be effective.
If the games work with XP/Vista, then W7 is fine.

MW2 only uses steam for digital distribution. It has nothing to do with the lame peer to peer connection model. You can blame the developers for that. Steam is the best delivery platform out there for gaming. I challenge you to come up with a better one. Also, BC2 is hardly better with its premium. hand picked central server model. I still can't throw up my own server on my personal fiber line, so it can kiss my ***. I bet I have more bandwidth available than any of those paid server companies give to any one game server instance.
Sure Steam had its issues when it first came out like 8years ago, but thats all been worked out a long time ago.
I ******* hate bc2 because I can unload a whole clip into someone and land every round and they still not die. Game sucks.

Just finished pwning with 99mx5.
I played like a bauce after playing only SC2 for a few months.
At one point I parachuted into a base, stabbed a guy in the back, set bomb A, stabbed another guy in the back on my way to bomb B, set bomb B. It was like Chuck Norris flew down and roundhouse-kicked each bomb in the face.
Highest scoring player 3-4 games in a row. I think SC2 made me a better BFBC2 player. I've never had so many knife kills or leveled up so much in 3 hours. I think quicker on my feet now and have faster reactions.
