Ya tf2 is very rock paper scissors. I have never liked the feel of the game and really can't explain or put it in to words. It just never felt right.

I play with all except spy. I usually switch every 2 or 3 respawns to try different tactics or to harass different players. I also pick classes based on those already playing. IE. If there is a medic, ill play a heavy. If there is a spy, ill play a pyro. Sometimes ill exclusively play medic or engineer the whole time if I am on a team with competent players. A little extra support goes a long way when you have a cohesive team.

Got the standalone TF2 server and my router setup last night. I need to attempt to connect to it but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. It connects to steam and allows me to change maps.

I usually play demo, but it doesnt work on all maps. Is the Mann vs. Machine an additional dl?

Some of the classes are certainly easier than others to start with.

Heavy is a very easy class, as he is just point and shoot. There is some degree of strategy involved, but crafting and quick weapon-switching technique are not crucial. Medics will naturally tend to flock towards you.

Pyro is another simple class, and for the same reasons. He lacks Heavy's range, but his speed makes it easy to rush players and flame them at close range. On maps where snipers tend to camp in specific areas, Pyro is a very important class as he can rush the snipers and take them out easily. On payload maps, he's also crucial to offense, as he can get behind the cart and continuously spray the surrounding area to reveal cloaked / disguised enemy spies which like to sneak up on the cart.

Was fun earlier Six.

Too bad one of the teams was going full retard (2/3rds to 3/4ths engies and you know you got issues.)

Engie-heavy teams can be fun if the folks know what they're doing. Particularly in CTF maps, if you have four Engies doing complete area denial around the intel. You just need to space out the sentries, stay vigilant againt spies, and repair / un-sap one another's buildings.

2 or 3 Engies are also useful on defense against a Payload.

I dont mind when there is alot of engies doing area denial, that makes the levels last longer.

I wish you would play as something other than pyro or engie.

Heavy seems easy if you play him against a team of noobs. The fact that his gun is innacurate at long range, slow moving speed when firing and not, and high vulnerability due to size make him a very susceptible target. Get one decent sniper, spy, scout or pyro and its game over. You wont get a round off before you die.

Try 7 or 8 engies, Joe. On a 12 person team.

My server works.

So when do we want to schedule a game?

Ideally id like to test it with a few people, maybe 4 on 4, see how it responds and then go full bore. Any volunteers?

Ill leave the PC powered on all night. All talk is on, map time limits are 35 minutes, and the rotation is displayed at the start.

It would be cool if we could get some people on around say 11'ish for a shakedown?

Nevermind. You wont be able to play tonight and I think for good reasons. My server just gave me a message saying it was out of date even though I updated it literally an hour ago. Attempting to update it gives me a connection error to the update servers. I am assuming they are making the push to mann vs machine and their are no more slots.
