Since there are video card **** in here...what can I do to get my notebook to use proper 1080p resolution from the VGA cable? I can't use the HDMI cable because my Dell N5010 will not "send sound" through the HDMI cable.

lol wut? Why can't you just use HDMI for video and do audio separate? Your VGA won't send sound either...

Kind of what I was thinking. And your video card is only capable of a certain max resolution, and if it's a notebook i doubt it's 1080p anyways.

You would probably see a decent improvement.

This, assuming you play at a high enough resolution to not make your CPU the bottleneck.

What a dope I am.

Bought that 8800GTS 512mb, never bothered to take a look at my mobo.

Whaddya know, not a single PCI-e aux power or molex power sources on the mobo or direct from the power supply.

So...either replace the PS with one that has a PCI-e power source (AND that fits this Inspiron 530 case), or daisy-chain from the SATA --> Molex --> PCI-e.

EDIT:

Found this:

Bad idea?

You should give in to temptation, and build a bran new gaming rig.

Then buy my video card.

I had this problem...soldering iron fixed it. My issue was not having any PCIEx power cable, only SATA.
