I'm just a noobody, but I've enjoyed lurking here and dreaming of all the power my '91 could have if not in Cal. Your tips on clutch jobs helped me a lot with the installation of her new kevlar clutch right in my garage.
Since I got her two years ago I have been trying to deal with a 10 flash error, and I dutifully replaced the old AFM/air thermistor and followed the reset procedure. 10 flashes still. . .
I don't know if this is connected to the problem we're having passing the smog test out here, 'cause she's just a little too high on NOx at low speed. Or if this problem is just cause she's old and has leaky valves.
Does anybody know if the Air Therm error would make the car run rich or tend to smoke, or is that an independent effect?
Does anybody have any suggestions as to ironing out the error code problem? (I'm trying to figure out which of the seven wires coming from the unit are for the thermistor, and where they go, one seems to go to the circuit opening relay. My Haynes only shows four wires exiting the AFM/AT.

Or should I just try to sell her in Nevada?
Or are there tricks to bring down our NOx?

This Miata still looks good and is a major joy to drive and has lots of power - I'd really, really like to fix her up and keep her, also as I got her from a very good friend now gone. If I can't fix her myself, anybody know of any Genius miata mechanics in the OC area?)

Thanks a million for any ideas. . .RR
