Default Virginia Internation Raceway was crazy today

I came down first sweeper at top of third and a car had spun out in the grass further down the track..(trying to slow down to avoid another car that had spun) kinda lost it slowing down and spun out facing the back up hill on the track and the IS 300 that was tandeming spun and just slid backwards forever and basically reverse T-boned me on the driverside door.

door is done. pushed the cage in the door bars at least 8 inches! cage pulled up the front left floor-board a bit. seat is a little crooked. bah. just gotta get a door from junkyard. gonna use lexan to build driver / passanger door windows w/ a quick release kit to take the windows in and out. have to get a new helmet and arm straps to run with top off again.

the IS 300 is pretty much totaled.

if i didnt have the cage i would be def in the hospital right now.

GOOD TIMES!!!

The IS was def hurt.

Whoa, Glad your ok.. If you didn't have that cage it may deffinetly have been a different story. Car looks great by the way. I'm sure you replace the door and bang the floor board back into place. Looks like the lowwer frame didn't suffer any damage... The IS looks pretty bad considering the miatas so light.. Good luck with getting her back on the road..

Common now, that IS300 is not totaled. he probably didn't have the rear bumper ziptied on..which sucks. In any case, use ratcheting tie down pull the corners of the unibody tub out. replace suspension bits that may be messed up. pull trunk lid, remove busted lights. get out and keep sliding.

I've seen worse happen and drivers still keep going. much like this actually. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Crash_161565.htm

on the note of frames getting bent, a friend of mine with a SR-5 Corolla (50hp stock.) had slicks at an auto-x and tweaked his frame because he had too much grip.

I have a drivers door that you can have. It came off a donor car that had been in an accident on the front drivers side. The door has some damage, but can be salvaged. I will get a pic for you if you want. Where are you located?

good cage in car = smart

Did the IS have his brakes locked up or was he just rolling/sliding freewheel?

i drifted against that s14 at hyperfest a month ago! The IS car is totally fucked. where his cage came down into the trunk was folded over like a flexable straw. His **** was fucked up. he was ready to go back out but since his cage was compromised they didnt let him.

Why didn't you use one of your wicked awesome dragon spellz to ward off the evil IS300? Harry Potter would have known what to do.

Poor, poor, dragon...*sniff*

So, do you have a favorite set of tunes you listen to when racing?

I still say that IS is recoverable, doesn't need a new car. The 240 should have cut and welded in new rear bars and put in some additional new ones in the trunk, as should the IS.

look at that! brain just sat in that car and now it had a side impact just like his old car!

but really, that cage worked damn good, that IS got fucked up. you know when he got home his friends thought he hit the wall instead of a miata.
