Hi guys I just bought a PCI rail mounts for my Miata(89-05 Mazda MX-5 | PCI Racing) was wondering if any of you guys run the NRG FRP-300(FRP-300 Fiber Glass Bucket Seat Large | NRG Innovations) i found these seats local for pretty cheap and i was wondering if any of you guys know if it will fit a NA Miata? the measurements for the seats are on top.

Yes the seat will fit, though if it's low then the left shoulder wing will contact the door card.

But please, buy something better. If you insist on getting something cheap, look at the Sonic Racing seats or something like that. I had the NRG FRP seat and absolutely hated it. I happily sold it for $50 to a honda ricerboi. It's an utter piece of ****. It's comfortable, but flexes a ton. The Sonic seats aren't a lot more money, but they're a much better seat.

seeing people easily flex that thing a solid 6" with their bare hands at the prev MRLS was kinda disturbing. after that I made a mental note to never buy one of those

^truth. The side mounts on the seat were very bent after the crash that thanksgiving. The entire thing was junk. If you do ANY performance driving the seat is pure junk.

If you want a cool-looking seat that is one of the more comfortable fixed-back options out there, it's not bad. If that's the case, GTFO this site.

i see, what would you guys recommend for a good seat? buckets? reclining? i wont be having any sliders thats for sure i will straight mount it to the rails. my kind of driving is DD on mon-fri then weekends either autox if theres one if not some spirited driving through the backroads. my budget is around 700$ CAD for one seat. im a pretty big? guy im about 5"10-5"11 about 200lbs around 36 waist, i found a bride low max seat but im not sure about that one and the owner doesnt know if its fake or not because he got it off a car he bought. its this model. and he said he's 36 and it fits him snug.

what about the recaro spg xl's? theres one here locally its authentic, does anyone have them with the pci mount? if so let me know what you think of it for DD(30-40min drive w/ traffic) and weekend autox comfort wise. thanks

The SPG XL is absolutely excellent. It's a fixed back bucket so of course it's not incredibly daily friendly for getting in and out of, but once you're in it you'll be very comfortable.

just exactly what i want to hear. hahaha for support/protection sparco has some add-ons for their racing seats, i was wondering if i get the spg would getting this (Recaro Side Protectors for Full Bucket Seat Recaro Part | eBay) be any help for less wear and tear for the car? or just wasting money? or do you have any different option that can help prevent it from doing that

Sparco Sprint Vs aren't flashy, but they're inexpensive and FIA certified.

They plug and play into Miatas with the PCI mounts too.

Those side protectors are nifty. Probably a good idea for a car that is daily driven. That or something similar.

The Sprint Vs are great seats and some like them. I absolutely hate them (that's what's on my passenger side... Was on my driver side at one point). Everyone I have heard of who has sat in an SPG has loved it. The sprint V is an excellent choice if you find them comfortable. I definitely don't.

another question would be mounting the seat to the car since i plan on not running a slider just the rail and seat how hard is it to screw the back bolts on the seats? is there a pattern or u mount the rails first then the seat or mount the rails to the seat then the car? i know for the pci i have to hammer the trans tunnel to make it fit

Can't help ya there, sorry. My seat isn't super far back and I removed the rear seat humps out of the car so I just have bolts through the floor of the car and they're easily accessible. Not personally familiar with the PCI mount.

I run the SPG XL in my 95, love it. I am using the adjustable PCI mount (referred to on some sites as Version 1).

The SPG XL is a wide seat at the base, so you will need to hammer the tunnel in not only for the mount, but also up higher for the side bolster of the seat if you want to be anywhere close to centered. I'm still shifted to the left a little relative to the steering wheel, but not enough for it to be a problem.

My mounting order was this:
-Attach side mounts to the base loosely.
-Mount seat to side rails. You should be able to move the seat fore-aft and side to side, as the side mounts are not tightened to the base.
-Place seat/mount assembly in the car. Bolt the base to the stock hardpoints.
-Adjust seat to desired position and tighten the bolts attaching the side mounts to the base. The fronts are easy, the back ones are more difficult. I use a ratcheting box wrench, which makes it easier.

Couple other things:
-I have those bolster protectors you linked. I think they are a good move.
-I needed a removable steering wheel to be able to get in and out of the seat.

hmmm interesting, i dont have sliders tho so my seat would sit lower, do you have any problem with the shoulders of the seat hitting the door when closed? whats ur waist line? im about 34-36 depending on dinner or lunch hahahaha, how snug is it?

This is the PCI mount I have. No sliders, but it is adjustable with tools.

The wing of the seat does hit the door card, but not enough to interfere with door closing. Has left a little dent, but no cutting required. One thing to keep in mind is the seat back is REALLY tall. Mount it as low as you can or you might have issues with the top clearing.

I'm a big fella, 36-38 waist, 250 lbs. The seat is great for me. Maybe a little on the tight side of perfect, but this is pretty much the biggest FIA seat you are going to fit in a Miata without cutting/welding.

ETA: I love the comfort of the seat. In July did an event, 4 days, 1500 miles of driving. No complaints.

****, just saw that you already purchased the other PCI mount. That likely won't work with the SPG XL. The rear mounting hole is 100mm from the bottom of the seat, while most others are 75mm or less.

I ran into the same problem, tried the Garage Star mounts first. Couldn't adjust it back far enough because the bottom of the seat hit the bolts going in to the floor.

i have this version of the PCI mount, ProCar Innovations Race Spec Seat Mount Version 2 | KazeSpec Engineering so this wouldnt work? mybe modify it?
