Default Repaint Opinions Wanted

Well I had planned on repainting this winter, However due to some extra free time i hadn't planned on I have decided to start now.
Having a bitch of a time deciding on the final color though.
Choices are:

1. Repaint it Classic Red, Shinsen stripes
2. True Red from the 06 up, Shinsen Stripes
3. **** Red, Shinsen Titanium Silver, Darker Silver stripes

Im leaning towards number 1, I think the true red might be too bright.

Note: I didn't ask if you like stripes or not, Thats because I don't care.

I am doing all the work myself. A few door dings to fix, nothing major, and a lifetime or so of sanding, Probably alot of irritation and I may have to kill someone before it's all over.

I did not know how expensive good auto paint was until recently. I know good paint jobs cost a fortune, Now I understand better why painting a hood is also like 400.00ish.

Thinks he's referring to making the stripes the color of the "shinsen edition" silver.

I don't personally care for stripes, I would do the whole thing either classic red or "shinsen silver" as you call it. But if you've gotta do stripes I'd go with the least obtrusive, shinsen with dark silver/gray stripes.

Keep it as close to the original SU RED that you can. Go with Base Coat/Clear Coat. If you changes colors it will look like ****.
I repainted my whole car two years ago and it came out great. Painted it in the garage and disassembled almost everything to paint it. Covered the interior and the engine bay, and shot away. If you want pistures, let me know.

Got the paint here:
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/
Base Coat: Quart - $74.95
Clear Coat: Quart - $38.70

Their SU RED was a little brighter than the original paint.

leatherface, that color is nice! I like the darker tint over the sea of silver/grey cars out there.

talusfan, go with the classic red. The true red is too bright; makes it look like a kid's toy.

Thanks for all the pics, That X7 is friggin sweet. That honda grey made me throw up a little.
I'm sticking with classic red, Picked up 90% of what I need local. Already spent a couple hours today on the hardtop. Paint gun should be in towards the end of the week, Then it's time to get serious. Ah, and I need to go pilfer a larger compressor for a bit.

If I remember right -- I used 3 base - 3 clear. Although, I'm sure you could use 2 base If your prior paint is well sanded and prepped.
Make sure that you get rid of all the wax and oils and anything like Armoural. I also removed all of the seals everywhere because I hate the taped look.
Have you read up on everything that you can about painting and prepping the car out?
You have a flash time in between coats that you need to adhere to, so the paint will stick to itself.
Actually, I read quite a bit about it before shooting the car. I think that even the on-line paint sites have the times and such on them....
