Default NC dreaded bottom end knock, next steps... 2.5...ECU?

After getting the dreaded bottom end knock in my 2.0 sport i've dropped the engine out of my NC and decided to source a 2.5 motor, this doesn't seem as simple as it sounds here in the UK!
My intention now is to put a sump drain in before i drop another motor in it with the plan to add a turbo since i'm going to have to remap anyway. whilst working through what i need to do i realise that the ECU map needs to be changed so am struggling to find a DIY solution that will allow me to map it myself.
so far I've looked at ECUTEK & openflash Tablet, from speaking to BBR and another they tell me that I won't be able to map myself on ECUTEK for some reason!
what are my option for remapping the MX5 ecu that I have? I've mapped a few cars in the past with DTAfast and MS, i don't want to replace with standalone since it looks like you can do a large number of things with the stock one when its been remapped.

Thanks in advance.

The only solution that you can mess with yourself that uses the stock ECU is Openflash. Look up Joe at Dynotronics. He has several used ones for sale and he can also do tunes on them.

ECUTek is the droid you seek (as mentioned above Dynotronics)
