Default Painting engine bay

OK, the guy that is going to paint the V8 car was over to the shop last night. The good news is that he isn't going to upcharge me for a full color change, other than a bit more time, a bit extra for the Titanium paint and a bit more paint needed to do the engine bay.

His main concern is paint adhesion in the bay. He doesn't want to see flaking in a couple of years. For the rest of the car, it will be sanded in its entirety. For the bay, he suggested a stripper chemical and pressure wash, rinse and repeat, for as long as it takes to get it all down to bare metal.

While this seems extreme, is there any other way? It would be a bitch to try to sand the whole thing. Soda blast the only other option?

Soda blast or you could use a pressure washer with dish soap mixing to get rid of all the grease. After that rinse it well and use a scotch brite pad all over it. Thats what I did and it has turned out great. If you can soda blast it, that will give you the best results.

I saw some guy use some pumice orange had cleaner and a scotch bright pad on the engine bay and then pressure washed it down, as far as I know he has not had any problems.
