Default 949 Racing - SuperMiata project ND

CAD rendering of production 17x9 6UL on 235/40/17. The renders we posted yesterday in the ND rambling thread had sorta 6UL wheels. These renders are dead on scale and shape. I can't wait to get this thing on the road!

Spoiler concept

Pics work just fine for me.

Love the duckbill rendering. This just might cure the awkwardness and weirdness of the rear on the ND.
Love the sticker. Can't wait for this

Pics don't show up on my phone either. Not sure what's up. Looked at them on facebook though. The project looks really good. My only constructive feedback is that the rollbar might look better in black. There is just a whole lot of orange going on there. Super excited to see the finished product in real life!

OK. Manually entered HTML tags with ? at end of string. MT.net script that takes inline URL and copies to server somehow breaks the link. OP images should resolve now.

NA/NB/ND. Never felt any passion for the NC so we will continue to ignore it. SPM race series is about cost containment so no ND's for the forseeable future. On the horizon would be S1 class which would be about a 210whp Rotrex supercharged class with a wing, splitter and 6 speed. Current 140hp N/A class is S2 although. We never bother calling it S2 because there is only the one class of cars now.

How far into the engine are you planning to go with this first car? I have been curious if the stock red line is more to do with skyactiv engines being tuned for power in the midrange or if there are mechanical limits near 7000rpm. Mazda says the crankshaft is really light and the stroke is longer than most 2 liter engines.

We have one apart now. Crank is fine, forged. Rods are teeny. Carrillo is making a custom set for us that will be lighter than OEM and stronger. OEM pistons. The motor is pretty much blueprinted straight from the factory. Motorcycle type tolerances everywhere. Worlds away from a BP. Micro polish the crank, port the oil pump, valve springs and a few other tweaks. Found some stuff in the ports we can fix. basic shape is good though. Mostly just making it tolerate 7500rpm.

Depending on which type of dyno, stock is 140-142whp. The SAG 2.0L is highly responsive to ECU tuning and really likes the corn. 100% stock with reflash on 91-93 octane is seeing 20whp bump so, ~160whp. I'm pretty sure we'll see 200whp with corn and built engine. Couple that with 1.4g on street tires. Yeah, might be fun to drive.

Any rough idea on long block weight and availability without a car wrapped around them? Watching this with interest.

I wish mazda would copy all of this work and call it a mazdaspeed ND. Not likely to happen though.

We didn't weight it. Not sure what your other question is.
