Anybody regret removing power steering?
I'm thinking about removing the PS in my car, as it would make the turbo fit quite a bit better. I'll have to fab up a different route for the reservoir-to-pump line in order to keep PS, but with all the good things I've heard about removing it, I'm thinking of doing that.
So, has anybody actually regretted removing their power steering? Or does everybody like it removed?

only belt off would leave a bad impression, still pumping fluid = extra heavy wheel. Tried it on the way to the parts store to buy a new belt.
Removed, it gets rid of the PS's overboosted feeling. Of course it's a bit heavy at low speeds, but it's amazing once you're doing 15+ and you've gotten used to it. You'll be one-handing it in no time. This is my experience with my looped lines. I've never read about someone regretting their full de-power.

I am glad I removed mine. Cleans up the engine bay quite a bit. I drove for a while with no belt and then switched to a manual rack (kind of a mental trick).
At high speed there is little difference. In the parking lot it is a little bit more difficult. My wife has no problem driving it with the manual rack. She is 5' and 100lbs with almost no muscle mass.
I might be biases though because most of the sports cars I owned before the miata had manual racks so I am used to it.

Never regretted de-flowering my PS rack.
Caution about just taking off the belt and "test driving it" though. There's still fluid in there that needs to be moved around so the resistence is MUCH greater then if you drain the fluid (leave a little to lubricate, but it doesn't require much) and loop the fittings. Night and day difference. At speeds above 40-50mph, it's almost like you have power steering, but it's the "loading" and "unloading" of the steering wheel going into a turn that I love about manual racks.

You get used to the heavy @ low speed steering *very* quickly. The trade off is well worth it. A depowered rack, with its agressive ratio, I'm sure would be sweat. I like my base package, non power steering just fine.

I tried it by just taking off the belt. I hated it, but after hearing from several people that it was a lot better once you actually depowered it, I went all in and looped the lines. I'll never go back.

I depowered my rack using FM's tutorial. not sure I can feel a huge difference between looping the lines and removing the internal seal, but it certainly cleans it up a little down there.
I too find it annoying getting out of the startbucks parking lot, cause I have no cup holders.
