Default HID Wiring for 99-00 with 2001+ conversion

I've been searching around for some threads in m.net and here for a specific wiring that will allow the HID light to stay on while you use the high beam light.

I made this diagram, I'm not sure if this is going to work though. Will the low beam headlight switch on the high beam this way? Will adding a diode prevent this?

Sorry if this question has been asked many times, but there hast been a definite answer yet on running both.

I know i'll need a fuse into the equation, but lets all assume its there

Yes you would need a diod in there. I would assume where you have it marked on your diagram. If you wanted to you could run high and low HID's, but am shure ethat you would need a nother 12v source for both bulbs so as not to melt the stock wiring. I had done the headlight swap on my old 00 before I rolled it. I found that there was a company that would make a harness for like $300. They said that they could make it to what ever specs I wanted it.

I am somewhat retarted when it comes to electrical.

Have a great day,
Jared

No. No. No. You want to use a SPDT relay, but you drew a SPST relay. You do not want to use a diode. (though you may need to use a diode across the relay if you see a voltage spike when you shut the high beams off)

As I recall, the headlight system was 3 wire, common ground, +12V switched. Get a SPDT relay.

30 to HID +
87a to Low Beam +
87 to +12V
85 to High Beam +
86 to ground

????
Profit

This will pass through low beam +V straight to the HID module. When you hit the high beams, your +12V source will power the low beams. You may also find that you need a capacitor between the HID+ and ground if you have any flash or flicker when you switch from low to high.

Thanks ben. Figured I was doing something wrong. Ill redraw it again and get working on this damn thing. sucks not having high beams.

Is there a specific capacitor size you recommend?

One more thing ben,
If I wanted to use a 12V line directly to power the HID's how would I go about doing that? I've tried to use the low beam power, but apparently the HID ballasts draw too much current and the ballast never come on. In other words, my HID's are being powered by the high beam line right now. THe low beam power isnt connected to anything.
