Not sure if you guys know about this or not but its turning out rediculously badass.
thread is here: ClubRoadster.net
Here are the details for pricing, deposits, payments:
20% of $1500 = $300 deposit (while prototype is being made)
When prototype is done, it will be GB price of $1800.
After GB, retail is $2200
You can send your deposits to: sales@autokonexion.com
So now heres who's paid their deposits in the prototype phase as of 8/20

Oh god....that is a ton of money...but I want it so bad.....What would shipping be to the east coast? I mean $1500 is a ton but honestly reasonable when compared to the going rate of the avg hardtop. What are we talking about as far as total cost with shipping though? Also I read that it uses stock weather stripping. Can I assume it doesnt come with any of it even at that high price? I didn't see that talked about at all in the thread. If not I would have to tack on another what 2-300 for that stuff?

Weather stripping and all that jazz is really up to Mike. we've been talking about it but nothing is set in stone yet.

Its answers like this that keep me from jumping all in. Considering shipping might be like $500, seals might be like $300, and the price jumps up $300 in 2 days I can't believe you ahve gotten any deposits at all. I mean you are talking like a $1000 sway in price for all these unknowns. If I could get it with seals, shipped to the closest loading dock for $2k or less I would be emailing grinder right now.
With all these unknowns though it isn't likely I will be buying it at all. I certainly am not going to get it at the "regular" price of $2200....

I think the people who have paid are all on the west coast.
Its not for the feint or heart, but at 1500 even with painting shipping seals hooks, whatever else it will need to be installed it is an amazing price on a very high quality good looking piece. All in I bet the guys on the west coast are expecting 2k, but honestly that is a killer deal for what you get.

I think its completely unacceptable to post a price at all or even ask for a deposit if you don't know what you are getting for the price. I can understand not knowing the exact price of shipping but I think you could get a rough quote based on dimensions and an estimated weight. As far as it being up in the air if it includes seals are not...How can any reasonable person that doesn't already own a hard top, like me, be expected to blindly give money for something not knowing if it comes with these pieces.
I can afford the top, thats not the issue. The issue with that it costing me $2k and it costing me $3k in the end are completely different numbers. One is acceptable, the other is not.

Yeah I agree with neo, without a set in stone price and description of what you'll be getting, you just might end up getting fucked.
Anyways the quality of the hood I got from Mike isn't anything to write home about. Hopefully they spend more time on the finished quality of the fastback then they did on their hoods.
I think with the right color, wheels, etc the fastback can look dope. However whenever I see one I think of those 2 idiot brothers on cr.net.
Just my

I still need to buy the metal pieces they hook into... Regardless, I need these questions answered and I don't see why that shouldn't be done before Friday's deadline. I guess I'll just email grinder directly since even though you are pushing this thing, you don't seem to be able to answer any real questions about it.

Its not unnaceptable to ask for deposits now. Its not like they arent refundable. And i agree if there was a 1000 dollar differance but there wont be. On top of that, again, you cant get a shipping quote till the finished piece is done adn have that weighed. Hence the group buy doesnt officially start till friday. This is just for people who want to get on it now before hand at a lower price.

Believe me, I would love to be the only person in VA that I know of sporting one of these. But the total cost has to be reasonable, and I need a picture of that cost before I give my money away.
Also, it was NEVER mentioned that the deposit was refundable...If that is in fact guaranteed to be the case then I will send in a deposit anyway to lock in the price.
