I'd drop the sissy pie plate 1.6 and get the 1.8 goodies.

Well, that's what I'm doing. I have the flywheel buried somewhere in teh dismal abyss of my garage and I was going to get the ACT clutch from planet performance but it was so backordered and I could use the money elsewhere.

well, the plan with this setup is 250 or so rwhp. if i can save money and hold that much power going with 1.8 stuff, sure.

from the bit of rooting around, it doesn't look like an ACT HD for a 1.8 will save me much compared to a XT setup for a 1.6, and i'll get some extra clamping power out of the XT.

if anyone has a better recommendation for me, considering i'm looking to push the greddy manifold/turbo to it's reasonable limits (which i gather will be in the slightly north of 250whp range) and don't want to have to do the clutch twice, i'm all for it.

in the meantime, the plan is to order a 1.6 ACT XT setup.

:-)

no, keep the lighter 1.6 flywheel. it'll hold as much torque as you'll be able to make on stock internals.

Well the parts were obviously not in stock and which part was back ordered depended on the day of the week you called. After getting the run around for nearly a month the parts finally showed up. Then I get hit with nearly $10,000 of fraudulent charges on the card I used with them. $200 dollars of which is still in dispute four months later.

I don't have any proof but, they were the only new company I had done business with.

Totally not worth the $20 I saved over carolinaclutch

Damn they treated me right sorry to hear that you got a shitty deal.
FWIW my **** was in within 4 days. ACT xtreme pp and 4 puck disk BTW get a street disk it is worth the $ in the ease of use the learning curve on the unsprung is a little different than most cars.

I think ACT has had supply problems over the last year. When I ordered my clutch I waited for three months before I canceled the order.

FYI the XT "kit" is just the XT pressure plate and the stock Exedy disc. (And tools/bearings/etc)

Well, the CarolinaClutch website sucks ballz. No description of the products and their parts search function is for crap.

The PSO website was awesome. The link indicated shipping was free and they're having a 10% off sale. A 1.6 XT/StreetDisc is $323 and 1.8 is $443. I'll be headed there when my Spec pisses me off for the last time... and since it's getting colder here, will probably have to wait until next summer.

Here's the link to the 1.6 XT:
