Default blkmkiii --Caught being a bitch! --Beware of UNPROFESSIONAL juvenile n00b

So I drive 3 hours last week(1 way) to pick up a motor with 88xxx miles on it. I spoke to them, they said compression numbers will be check and it will be pulled tonight and ready for pickup in the morning.

I get to the shop after several hours in the car. I see a red car on the lift. No one was around, it had no engine and appeared that it was pulled only a short time ago. So I assumed that this was the car the engine came from, on the window was written 125,453. So I took that as the mileage. So I look outside and see my engine, GREAT!. But I was not crazy about the 40,000 mile difference in the mileage. So I pull off the rest of the radiator hose that was left on the engine(they cut it off the car instead of pulling the hose off). So I walk over to the red car. 100% match. So I knew it was 100% from that car.

Owner finally arrives and tells me that the engine was not from that car. He told me prior to me driving up that they had 1 99 motor 12 hours before I drove up so there was no possibility of another. He had said they had junked the shell that my motor came from that morning (which I found weird since it was a miata scrap yard 10-15 shells, 5-8 half cuts) So why would they toss mine rite away instantly??? odd. So I show him that this motor was 100% from this car. Showed him the hose that matched up 100%. Keep in mind this was the only non shop miata indoors.

I will let the rest of you decide, personally I/ no one should ever do business with liars. Lie to someone over the phone is one thing, but to do it in person is complete disrespect. I showed the owner how the hose matched up 100% to his cut, he just stood and continued to tell me that it was not from that car.

I guess I will let this photo speak for itself. I am really pissed that I wasted an entire day and a lot of fuel/toll $ just to be lied to by an extremely unprofessional shop. Beware of who you do business with. I trusted this shop enough that I thought something like this would never happen. Worse then a JUNK YARD.

Is this OJ glove/hose supposed to show me that dust is different colors on different cars? I'd expect a junkyard to have several Miatas, all with the same dust on them.

Yes. Clearly, the hoses are not a matched set. Too big of a difference in the amount of dust.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from planet miata, but I know they've been around for a long time.

Sucks that you wasted your time, but now you can share the story with all of us.

I am sure that the engine was cleaned once it was pulled out of the car hence the different shades of hose.

Good people are good people till they get caught in a lie. They are even worse when they do not come clean and say yes. I made a mistake.

As for checking the vin numbers I was asked to sit in the waiting area and to not be in the shop any longer. I did not even think of it at the time, but I had enough proof to leave and never to $0.01 worth of business with these liars. ---- out 20 gallons worth of fuel and another $20 in tolls.

i wouldn't have let you in the shop at all!

why would you think it's ok to just waltz right into an area for employees only?

And start yanking parts off a car.

Who's to say the engine was the original for that chassis? Who's to say they don't cut the hose in approx. the same place every time? Without the engine sitting in the engine bay, you have no idea if that hose matches up with the inlet to the water pump. I could cut a coupe identical hoses and hold different pieces up together and have them look similar.

You've made a lot of assumptions, and as the phrase goes, you've made and *** out of yourself, and you don't have an engine. Who's the loser now?

I "yanked" a coolant hose off of the engine I was about to load into my car. I walked into the shop an confirmed a 100% match of the hoses. Who's the loser......a 57 year old e-thug? I walked away from a terrible business happily, if you choose to do business with sketchy salvage yard.. be my guest.

hmm, to outright lie is bad business, unless he is a tard and doesn't know his inventory and/or the flunkies in the back pulled the wrong motor?

IIRC they make/made alot of money off of spec racers with big wallets and small brains...

i have never dealt with them and probably wont because i have no need to.

edit, when you find a NON sketchy salvage yard, let them know so they can fix it... they make money by scamming alot IMO...

You really sound like a spoiled piece of ---- 14 year old. Making nothing but assumptions and complaining about it like you need to inform the world of your hurt anus.

It's one hose. ONE HOSE. Deal with it. They pulled the goddamn motor for you. Do you have ANY clue what 99% of the real junk/salvage yards do when you want a motor? They tell you bring your tools and pull it yourself. If you want to hear real horror stories about getting stuff at junk/salvage yards I'll be glad to enlighten you. Ever had the cops called on you for not buying injectors when the owner said he had 2 RX7's but really had a RX7 and a CRX? Ever been interrogated because you "stole" bodywork from a car and hid it inside of a van? Ever had to jack up a car that was 10 inches deep in mud to get the differential out because the owner decided to move it after it rained even though you called and told him not to move it? That was a shady/unprofessional company.

I've down business with Planet Miata before and so have other people on here. They are indeed good people. I'm sure you got that motor for a great deal. But because you didn't like they way they have their shells stored outside (are you ------- kidding me?!) you had to assume they are liars and they ruined your $2 hose.

Get a ------- life.

Nice of you all to side with platnet miata.

Still none of you really know wtf happened. They do a lot of biznass and it was probably some *** up or mistake. Sucks.

Couldve also been f'ing with the guy here too.

That said 20k miles is not that bjg a deal for a stock miata motor.

I would compression tested it and been done

I was actually kinda on OP's side til he said he didn't verify vin.

Now I'm confused. Isn't the VIN number, the MOST IMPORTANT WAY OF VERIFYING THE IDENTITY OF ANY IMPORTANT PART, something you'd check before some stupid coolant hose???

Not trying to side with planetmiata, but c'mon now: if you're going to badmouth a reputable business on a forum you better be 130% sure you're right beyond a shadow of a doubt by checking the VIN, and not getting a pic of some hose.

What happened sucks either way though.
