Fat man's racing seat?
I need to find a seat that is compatible with a 5 point harness and is also sized for a bigger guy. I see all these threads with people who are 5'6" and 130lbs complaining about the seats they purchased being "tight" so I know damn well my 5'11" 210 lbs of lard *** aren't going to fit.
I'm a 36" waist, so I need to know what:
a.) will allow me to be seated and still retain my ability to breath
b.) will fit in the car without major modifications to the seat
c.) is a safe seat (no ebay crap made of plastic, felt, and hope)
d.) isn't priced as though made of albino ostrich ******* stretched across a platinum frame, handstitched by Winston Churchill.
And before you bastids tell me to go sit in a bunch of seats, there aren't any places anywhere around here where such a thing would be possible.

I'm a 38" waist, 245 lbs, and I daily drove my Civic with a Corbeau Forza for 2 and a half years. I'm pretty sure the seat has been fit into an NA Miata before, I plan on ordering a new mounting bracket to put it in the miata after the new owner of my Civic picks it up this weekend.

Even tough im a pretty lean guy (6'3" 190lbs), I own the buddy club buckets in large.
the previous owner was probably around your size and loved the seats when he had them. i have also had other bigger guys sit in them and be plenty confortable.
price isnt too bad,
i also might be selling my pair soon.

I put in the Ultrashield Rally racing seats, 20 degrees set back and 17" accross on the stock rails. Best fit for Large guys in Miata and I think the best price of seats.
I'm 6.5, 250lbs and fit because of these seats. I have other drivers (in other types of cars) at our local autocross test fitting themselves in my car because they know if I fit, then they will. Everyone likes the seats.

+1 for driverdog. Both the aluminum seat companies, Ultrashield and Kirkey build seats that are popular in spec miata and endurance racing. They build these in all sorts of widths. Prices are affordable and the covers are easily and relatively cheaply replaced. May be more hardcore than you are looking for if the car is dual use. Sparco Sprints or the like may be easier to get in and out of on the street.

sparco steel
I am also a 38" waist i think i will be looking into getting the Sparco steel.
"The Steel has a unique design that will allow fitment into smaller cars with limited space while still accommodating larger drivers."

And it is very reasonably priced.

get a cheap "sling" style seat like the sparco sprint. I've sat in both the kirkey, v-racing, 1-piece corbeau, and the fiberglass sparco roadster and evo...and after about 15 minutes, they really make your *** and back hurt.

yeah, the car isn't a daily driver, but I don't think a hardcore race seat is what I really need. i'm at work right now so i'll take a look at the suggestions in this thread when I get home.

Not necessarily a "fat-man's seat", but what are the thoughts on these for limited track use?

yes this is thread necromancy at its finest.
but i did a search and this is the same question im wondering but noticed its 4 years old so I was wondering if there is any more recent additions to this list.
im 5'10" 220lbs, wear around a 36" waist
car is a Daily Driver I do alot of roadtrips.
but ive noticed that my head protects the rollbar by a few inches without a helmet and about 4inches with a helmet on. plus the stock leather seats in my NB provide NO holding so im sliding around everywhere at the track.
