Default stupid header/expansion tank question

My OEM tank was cracked, yellowed and just plain nasty.

I picked up a brand new universal Moroso expansion tank on the cheap (like free cheap.)

The question now is how to run it. I've since tossed my OEM tank, however, if memory serves me right it was VTA and not sealed like a traditional expansion tank.

The question becomes, do I run a blank radiator cap on the header tank and keep it vented or do I run a blank on the radiator and a pressured cap on the header tank?

It was also suggested to me that I run a lighter pressure cap on the header while maintaining the cap on the radiator. I cannot see how this scenario makes much sense aside from maintaining pressure when the radiator cap vents.

discuss

VTA on the expansion tank with a stock radiator cap on the radiator.

and have the line from the rad to the overflow to the bottom of the tank so it can suck fluid back in when the coolant cools down.

This is where my head is.

It conveniently has a 3/8" bung on the bottom.
