Default Cage or roll bar?

So I was thinking about slapping a cage on my car... But the problem is that I want to keep passenger seat and I want to make it usable too!

Anyone heard of any cages that will allow for full passenger seat travel? I don't care about any inspections/ratings/certifications as I'm not racing professionally.

What about the Hard Dog bar with the added door bars?

But what's the point of adding a full cage if you're not going to use it?

I suspect the cage argument is, are you always going to use a helmet or not?

That is the more important question to ask.

Cages are often dangerous unless you always wear a helmet. There's this lady that wears her helmet while walking her dog, so I guess its feasible.

well, im putting a carbon fiber race seat in there so im going to be around 3-4" under the bars at all times and im also putting padding on it.

why i need cage? i will feel safer that way

oh, and i wont be running full door bars either. i will only add 1 bar on the bottom for extra safety in side impact bit i dont think i will ever need full door bars. plus i dont want any metal next to my hips nor i want to have to crawl into my car

Cage. Looks sick. But that's being oblivious to the head safety/helmet issue. I want a cage one day.

I really love my roll bar. Inexpensive and really stiffened up the car. Track weekend was incredible.

Might as well just get one fabbed up custom. Then you know you're getting everything you want out of it and nothing more.

EDIT: What happened to you getting out of the Miata game and when did I miss the update?

Do you drive the car on the street? Are you willing to wear a helmet every drive anywhere?

any street time = rollbar.
trailered track car/helmet on street... = cage

Either you go all out and do the cage right or just get a rollbar. I rolled a Miata with a HDHCSD, a Scroth 4-point harness and im 5'11" in the stock seat and i was just fine. Don't be a poseur with a wanna-be cage.

I have a cage in mine and still have a fully functional stock PAX seat. I/O Port 6-point bolt in. The car is a daily now, but soon to be a dedicated track car. I only drive 4 miles to work, so I'm not worried about the hazards at the moment. Have plenty of clearance with Memory Fab drivers seat and all the padding in the prone areas.
Unless you are building for future seriousness, a good rollbar will fit the bill just fine.

I never felt worried about driving in Rappadan's miata with his cage on the street without a helmet. getting in and out of the bitch is what I hated.

I'm sure you'll find a buyer for it once it is half done and you change your grandiose plans yet again.

Amen to that.....
A quick release hub is on my wish list to make things a tad bit easier.

I would rather have a roll bar then a bolt-in cage. I would say go for it if the tubes would hug the A-Pillar close, but all the bolt-in cages I have seen don't offer that.

I was just saying.............

Custom cage is the way to go if you have the money. Otherwise, just get a roll bar. My personal opinion, can't really go wrong with either one of those decisions. Unless, you get down below a 9.99 1/4 mile.
