Question Black box on TB,Bluetops,Rear diff lsd,ID engine

-what is this Black box on my throttle body?
-By the looks of second pic am I correct, thinking my Miata has 440cc Bluetop injectors?
-how can I positively ID what year the rear diff setup is ? its has 97 on it,but id like too really know.
Where can I find the Engine Code, date stamp or ID #'s?
thanx

The black box, I don't know. All I know is I think theres a Mitsubishi sticker on mine ahah. It could be throttle position sensor. I know for sure that those aren't 440s, they must be 230s. Go outside and dump the clutch, you two black lines who cares!

Throttle position sensor. It's not linear though - only measure on, off, and Wide Open Throttle (WOT)

No you are not correct. They are stock (205 I think)

Where did you find this number 97?

Are you trying to find out what year of motor you have? That throttle body and intake manifold are from a 1.6L miata, which won't fit on a 1.8, so you have a 1.6 litre.

OK im an idiot-TPS. but why isn't anything connected to it?or do I not see something.
'97 is what I was told by previous owner and marked in paint marker on side.
Looking for year of engine,cz this is JDM replacement.

Well it's not plugged in, so there should be a connector right near it. What year is the chassis of this car (it'll be on a place in the driver side door)?

-OK found the connector folded back under TB ,So it can run OK without TPS,w/o CEL,wow! thats new to me... Is there any reason It someone would've unplugged it .Im new to this Miata, but I should have known it's a TPS.
-92 chassis ,8 slots on Crank pulley but my concern is compression ratio.

I have mine unplugged because it'll supposedly dump fuel in since I have it wired for a linear TPS, which will be installed at a latter date. This is with MS though. I'm fairly certain stock injectors are 230cc. If you don't have any kind of engine management, aside from the stock ecu, there's no way your car would run with 440's.

Yeah, took it for a spin after I plugged TPS in.Now it has a flat spot/feels like engine just cuts out at part throttle.I have to read up on TPS maybe needs adjusting or just faulty . I didn't think it would run with 440's(w/o running super rich atleast) but I read the "DIY FaQ - All your answers in one big post",only bluetops mentioned are Rx7-440's- but after further review= thread has no listing for 90-93 NA.

Sounds like he already has turotufas. 10 hours late, but at least he read it. OP, I don't think you mentioned your engine management, stock or otherwise? Also, there's a write up on m.net about identifying differentials, might want to check that out. It's all about what flanges you have if I recall correctly.

Thumbs up

It's stock engine management.
btw:I fixed the TPS,a nylon piece inside had broken tabs.So a lil' drill bit and some safety wire=fixed.(untill I replace it atleast)
yeah thanx all, just looking for some direction-I'm new to this car and Miata forums period...so I've read so many pages and took in so much info the last few weeks.I'll check out that m.net thread on diff's. Just trying to clear up things before I turbo.
