Default heater core question??? urgent!

so i just installed my second setup and I deleted the heater core the system, Ie capped of the return from the core, not fro the back of the head.. I am over heating and my return hose to the bottom of the rad is cool to the touch, Is it because the heater core has to return to the bottom rad hose??? I have both those port closed of down by the bottom rad hose..... what is going on??

By eliminating flow through the heater core, you eliminated almost all coolant flow through the engine when the thermostat is closed, and also eliminated all coolant flow through the back of the engine regardless of thermostat position.

i linked my hoses and mine is fine. is a hose kinked? only takes a slight kink, might not notice by looking at it. feel the hose all over. if you used the stock hoses they are not long enough, you have to buy a longer hose or bend the pipe back like i did

i am just taking a guess

so I eliminated the heater core all together and i runs 1000% times cooler now my next question was if there was air caught in the heater core because it was drained along with all the coolant it might have just kept air in there, I didn't bleed it the first time

It wouldn't matter if the heater core was full of air or had no air at all, if you'd capped off one end of it and also capped off the mixing manifold. There'd simply be no coolant flow through the back of the engine at all. Granted, having a bunch of air float back up into the engine wouldn't be helpful, but even if the system was properly bled and air-free, it'd still overheat.

I assume that now you have connected the outlet at the back of the head directly to the mixing manifold. If so, you've more-or-less restored normal coolant flow.

I will have to tap that piece and reconnect it I had to flip the mixing mani around for my current setup, so i'll just tap the side and put a 90* barb fitting

Everytime someone caps their heater core without a bypass, a ricer is concieved in SoCal; stop the incest!!

Glad to see you got it all figured out. I'm still surprised by the number of people that do the same thing - there are a LOT of them.
