Default K1 = Carillo rods?

I am pricing stuff out for the build that starts next week. My rod search is driving me nuts.

I can't find anyone who has Crower rods or a price for them

ETD is out of stock

FM has the carrillo h beams in stock but $$$$

Anyone know anything about K1 Technologies? http://www.k1technologies.com/

K1, ETD, Belfab, CAT, and a few others are all the same or nearly the same. I've seen all of those but K1 in person, and could not tell a difference down to the part number.

They are called H-beam rods. That doesn't mean they are Eagle rods, just cause Eagle builds only H-beam style rods. Metal quality, design quality, and build quality are what make Eagle rods EAGLE RODS.

If you are gonna throw money at the Carillo rods from FM, get some REAL rods for less. PAUTER!

http://pauter.com/mazda_ford.htm

They are stronger than the Carillos, and cost less.

K1 are similar to an Eagle Rod but at quite a high price last time I checked. Not sure if the price has come down.

Maybe they are, but what data do you have to back that statement up? I haven't seen destructive testing for either product but know that both have held up well in many motors.

Okay, we all know that people repackage/rebrand things and resell them. I am okay with that and will pay extra for availability / convenience at times.

Let me restate my original question: Has anyone used K1 rods?

I would have bought a 2.0 stroker motor from FM if they had one on the shelf. I am up against a deadline. I picked a bad time to hurt the motor. Solo II National Championships are the 18th and 19th of SEPTEMBER for me. I need to balance cost versus availability. But whatever I buy needs to be good to 400 RWHP. I won't ever get there, but 300 is well within range. When I get the motor disassembled, I will document what 225 or so does to stock '99 internals.

I can get the K1s or belfab rods shipped the day I place the order, which will be most likely next Tuesday after the motor guy gets everything measured.

I know I mentioned other stuff, so...

I work at a shop that SELLS Eagle rods. I have been pushing for Eagle to make them since we talked at PRI. The rods may be similar to what Eagle is now selling, but are not Eagle rods in any way. The Carillo rods look just like the Eagle rods, so maybe Carillo has been selling Eagle rods, too?

Pauter says their rods is gonna be stronger than the H-beam Carillo, but that the H-beam is gonna be alot lighter, so better for an NA motor. They think Carillo makes a great rod, but that, for a turbo motor, their rod works better and is stronger.

I think that pretty much any of the bove rods you buy will easily handle 600whp. Also, Crower, Pauter, Carillo, and Eagle all make rods for the miata... RIGHT NOW.

Actually, These K1 rods are the first I've seen with ARP 2000 hardware. I'd be hard pressed to believe all the other ones out there (that coincidentally all came out at the same time) are anything but rebrands of someone's.

Actually, I have been pushing Eagle to hurry up with their rods, since there are several other companies selling H-beams already. We just got in the first shipment today. They have ARP2000 bolts.

I'm still gonna go with Pauter rods, just cause we are not gonna do a normal build when it comes time to build the motor up.
