Default Cheapest way to ship a shortblock?

Anyone know the cheapest way to ship a shortblock?
I have gotten some quotes even with it on a pallet that seem pretty expensive like $450-500. Seems like a little much? maybe I'm wrong

Assembled or just the bare block? When I bought a bare block from FM, they just packed it in a box and shipped it UPS ground. Adding the crank may push it over the weight limit, though.

Put it on a skateboard and push. Absolutely free.

Carry it onto a train or greyhound and hand deliver!

If it's over about 100lbs then freight might be your best bet, but not for what you quoted above...that's ridiculous. I've shipped complete longblocks for less than $150. You just need to find a pallet, strap it down, find a friend to help you put it in a pickup and drive it to a freight company.

UPS and Fedex will ship up to 150lbs by ground fyi, and if you have an account or know somebody with one then it's not too bad, but over the counter pricing is going to pinch. I've shipped trannys up to 130lbs by Fedex ground across country and it's around $120 if you have an account.
