Thanks. I think the boss is in the same spot on the block BUT my tube comes up between my #2 and #3 runners. That was OK the first time around, but this time the tube is in the way of my heater core line to the mixing manifold AND my external wastegate dump (if there's room to run it at all.) I actually think I have one of those kia tubes laying round- if I can find it.

This thread is full of win for me, I'm doing Kia FE3 swap Into RX8 6 speed, and I didn't want to do adapter plate because I'm already running into my sway bar and steering rack with front pulley. I have been looking at junk yards and did notice b2600 bellhousings, last few days I spent searching the Internet trying to find out if that bellhousing fits FE3 and FD trans. So next step will be to find out if it fits my 6 speed.

I don't believe the rx8 6 speed has a removable bellhousing.....but the jdm rx8 5spd is the same as the fd/t2 but has all the mount ting holes for the rx8 crossmember and ppf. Check it out. I plan to do either an fe3 or 4g63 into an rx8 via the 5spd route

Sorry I should have qualified my statement. The 6spd does not have an interchangeable
Bellhousing with the b2600. The 5spd does.

The more I think about it, having twist will also mess with PPF attachment, I think I will try to weld a hybrid out of the two bellhousings.

I will start off saying. I haven't done any of this **** myself.....

But take a look at this thread.

http://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/solution-transmission-turbo-setups-225750/

Since you are starting with an rx8, I'd source this rx8 5spd. Bolt it in to the chassies. Put the b2600 bellhousing on it and go from there. Then you don't have to monkey with any of the ppf mounts or trans to crossmember mounts and it should match up with the drive shaft too.

Let the motor take up the twist from the b2600 trans like this. Or source a nontwist bellhousing from overseas.

Yes I was thinking about letting the motor twist too, but than you run into the issue of engine oiling(drain back, oil pick up, re-welding pan to be BMW style). I will get b2600 housing first and than look at my options if I can get JDM 5-speed or if I could splice the bellhousings. Ideal would be to source JDM 5-speed and bellhousing from overseas.
BTW looks like MPV is another source of Slanted bellhousing.

So I ended up getting b2600 bellhousing and 5 speed JDM transmission, I also had to cut the firewall to make room for the 2.25" of head backspace, which left about 1/8" clearance to the HVAC enclusre. If anyone doing this in RX8, I would recommend making about 1" trans adapter to give you more clearance and not bother with B2600 bellhousing. You would also have to use B2600 Flywheel if you use the housing, otherwise starter gear won't engage the ring.

One more, my favorite:

XS Hack, what did you do to connect the B2600 flywheel to the Kia crank? How did the shifter turn out? I’m thinking about doing this swap. Been talking to M2CupCar about it quite a bit, and thinking about how to get this all bolted up. The Bongo bellhousing seems the most plug and play but sourcing isn’t the easiest thing and it still leaves me with the issue of the right flywheel because the Kia is an 8 bolt and the b2600 is a 6 bolt.
