Long story but different chick.
As it stands now, the miata isn't 100% set for dd-ing. I ordered a new muffler and I need to order an fmu. Otherwise...it's good. Well...the top did rip too along the plastic window and has tape on it but that's not too big of a problem.
The 01 need some work though...and I'm crossed as of whether I do anything to it or not. The a/c needs charged and the tires are bald. It also has no floor mats and it has some smoking burns in the drivers seat. It also has a tiny bit of hail damage and was in a fender bender that was fixed under insurance a while back. So yeah...it's not exactly a diamond in the sand here. I paid 6500 about a year ago for it and don't want to give it up for anything less than 4.5. It's also an auto:-/

I bought my Miata 2 months after my son was born. All you need is one kid carrier.

Ditch the slushboxed Miata and find a reasonable, dependable 4-door to DD.
FACT: There will be times when the GF's (Wife's) car is in-op and therefore requires your DD will be used to haul the family.
Then use the turbo'd Miata as your therapy.
I have teenaged daughters. I know of what I speak...

Well...found out I can't do the wrx setup...well...I don't know. Food stamps say they won't cover me with an extensive car note(which makes perfect sense). So I thinkin about keeping the 97 turbo and trading the silver in on something like a sentra ser or something of that nature. Something cheap, okay power, comfy and super reliable...maybe a honda hatch?

Dont do a trade in. You get raped in the ***. If you want more money advertise on craigslist. If you look on KBB the price drops a good 1500$ from private party to trade in. Ya you get the cash right there but i mean 1000$ is a lot of ****** money. Thats like forged rods and pistons timing belt head studs and a water pump

Trading...selling private party...when the deal comes it comes. Like I said, I'm still going to get the a/c and maybe tires for the silver one...I can't just ignore its' maintanance because I'm planning on getting rid of it.

Turbo, just from one current father to a sooner-than-you-*******-think-you're-gonna-be father... what do you do for a living, how stable is your job, how much money do you make, how much do you personally (not baby fund) have in the bank out of all your investments, and how much do you think a paternity test costs?
I followed your other thread with great amusement... and if you don't get a paternity test the instant it's safe for the kid (I think 2 months is good for an amnio) then you're an idiot.
Things for Turbo_4 to do in order:
#1: Paternity test... if father, proceed to #2, if not, proceed to slap-a-bitch.
#2: Hire financial advisor. Do exactly what he says.
#3: Report back in 18years and 7months to let me know how things went.
You might want to throw "get married" in there somewhere too, but really just 1-2-3 in order will suffice because #2 will probably say "sell all Miatas" and "get ******* married".
If you absolutely must buy a fun 4-door baby hauler, then just about anything in Spences list will work, but I'd also throw in a 5yr old Acura TL-R or a Maxima SE-R... 6-spds of course.

I got so much to say about the baby-stuff, so I am not going to. I'll stick to the cars. My 2 older siblings have 5 kids and we babysit all the time, so here is some top tip from Sweden: You want a car that is ECONOMICAL, PRACTICAL and SAFE! That is not a Miata.

First off...Congrats!!! Kids are great, despite all the sacrifices we make for them.
Now, get your life down to the efficient essentials:
You don't need two Miatas. Fix the auto and sell it, and you should have just about what you need to walk out of the hospital with your account paid if you can save up another grand or so between now and then.
Next, DON'T just run out and buy another car. We drew from my 401k to buy a stupid-*** Xterra we though we needed. Yes, it's nice, yes you'll carry a lot of crap, but we would have been fine with just my wife's Crapalier and the 'Teg I was driving at the time. It's now three years later, guess how much of that money I've paid back to my 401k? ...this is especially disconcerting considering how much interest is garnered for every extra year early you start/every extra year you work. That friggin' $24K SUV probably cost my retirement $100K.
Do buy a DD if you can find a way to pay for it. You don't have to, but if you find something cheap and dependable that allows you to keep the Miata as a toy, then it can work. You honestly don't need 3 cars. Our parents raised us with 1, and I'm pretty sure their parents did as well.
You're probably starting to see a trend here....and it's AVOID DEBT LIKE THE MOTHERFUCKING PLAGUE. You will feel pressure from your parenting instincts to go buy all kinds of crap. You don't need it. You need to make sound financial decisions. Change your cell phone plan to less minutes/no data. Start saving money. Be ready to buy a house, which is the smartest thing you can do. Think about retirement because once kids enter your life, your life goes into warp speed Scotty.
The most important thing you can give your family is your time. Even if you drive a shitty Obamalet Crapalier with a pink car seat in the back, work hard, go home, love your wife/gf and kids. Funny thing is...if you do this, you will find you can still have fun. My wife is on board with the Miata, even though we have a 2yr old and I have absolutely no reason to own the thing. I mentioned donating it to my little sister to take to college (sans turbo) and my wife got PISSED. She said she knows how much I love that car, and that I spend too much time and effort on it to let it go. This surprised me since she gives me crap about every upgrade I do, and every hour I spend in the garage. She admitted she just jokes around about how much a piece of crap it is and gives me a hard time, and that she's glad I have it.
Life's funny that way. Anyhow, this is way off topic, but you're getting a whole change in perspective. Moral is you can't have it all. I like the cars on the list above, but some are expensive to own. The only ones I'd really consider are the Lexus IS and the Acura mentioned. Keep one toy, drive daily if possible.
Last word of advice:
In the motorcycling community they say if your SO or situation are against you owning/riding a motorcycle...then never sell one until you park another one next to it. This is so true it hurts. I'll probably never get back in to riding, but damned if I'll ever let this Miata go.

Stop spending money on your ******* cars. You are having a baby. Send the ******* exhaust back. Don't buy tires for the silver one. Don't spend another dime on either one. Charge the air and sell the newer one and buy a boring reliable car for cash for under $3500 (try 1994-1999 corolla or camry) and concentrate on being a provider. You only need basic transportation. You gave up on the "fun-car-owning-bachelor" bullshit when you didn't show some responsibility up front. Suck it up and do your time. Work on providing shelter and supplies for your child. It will cost you at least $1000 more a month than you have been used to. If the turbo car needs something let it sit parked and do without. You have other responsibilities now that far outweigh your need to "have fun" or "be cool."
You need to work on improving your employment situation as much as possible. If your existing path is a dead-end, find something with more potential and move up. If you aren't qualified yet because you haven't finished your schooling/training then you need to look at a second job before the child arrives to start stockpiling cash for the inevitable expenses. She won't be able to work after the child is born and you will have to pull much more than your own weight at that point. You might pick up a job waiting tables at night after your day job ends.
Reduce your expenses. If you have credit card debt, get it paid off and stop using the card. If you have luxuries like premium cable packages and high-speed internet you might need to reduce services and limit your recurring unnecessary monthly debt.
It's not the fun thing to do, but maturity is about making hard choices. It is easy to make choices when they don't mean sacrifice. The real man picks up the yoke and pulls his load and is proud of the sacrifices he's made for his family. He looks back with pride afterward and says, "I was selfless and honorable and have nothing to be ashamed of."
