Question curious on the gear whine

So i have a 90 miata with 247k miles, the enine has been replace by mazda when the previous owner owned it (have receipt) but im curious on the whining noises. on acceleration from around 2500-3200 my car makes that really obvious rattle or whatever from the transmission like everyother miata does so i heard, and when your at higher rpm and let off the gas. I just wanna know if this is normal. also i just changed the fluids and it was clean so with that said, opinions please? it doesnt grind or anything like that. Also i have a friend who knows his stuff fairly well and says my diff is whinning very faintly but also i changed that with lucus and there were no shavings, i dont doubt his knowledge on miatas but i dont really know what im listening for and im ruff at hearing and dont hear anything from the diff over the tranns noise so any input on that would be appreciated...thanks!

So I couldn't get fast enough on the roads home to get it in a high rpm for 5th but every other gear whines when you let off the throttle.

Has it been whining very long?

In my experience with failing 1.6 diffs, once they start whining, it is not long before you are stranded.

^ That too. My diff skipped the whining phase and went straight to grinding during my first autocross at 140whp. I went to an AX the next weekend with the grinding getting progressively worse and the diff blew up within a mile of home after that.

Yea bryce I was just playing back, I'm really very chill lol but idk I can't hear it honestly. My friend says he can hear it, but while my hearing may be bad its acute for sketch noises and such, tell me what in particular I need to listen for with the diff and or when the noise will occur, and iv heard of these transmissions going for half their life whinding when you let off the gas.

Doesn't sound like its a very loud whining. The whining will would probably be loud enough for you to hear if it is a sign of imminent failure.

Nothing makes a bright sun shiny day like total drivetrain failure.
