Default Dang truck backed into me (56k beware 1.1 megs)

It happened in a parking lot, he was parked behind me, I pulled out and was about to put it in first then he started pulling out.
Needless to say I layed on the horn, he gave the brakes a tap but kept on going. crunch :(

I believe this would justify the purchase of a nautilus horn. yes?

Looks like just the fender skin and a door adjustment. You should get enough from his insurance company to pick up a fender and pay for most of an all over repaint.

Get a horn. Makes all the difference. I have a FIAM low tone that sounds like a truck horn, in parallel with the oem high tone horn. They sound awesome together, and can scare people.

The airhorns are good and loud too. Only problem is they have a slight delay between when you hit the switch and when they sound.

Could have been MUCH worse.

The door is slightly damaged too so all the more money!

I realize now that this is the second accident I've been in with another car. The first one I was in the Land Rover. Both times where in a parking lot, both times involved somebody backing into me. Although this time I was smart enough to lay on the horn when I saw it coming. Didn't help though :/

I have a driver's door if you want to come and pick it up in Atlanta.

well now you can fix the oxidation on the front fender. And thank God it was not in the rear (which is welded on).

tip on parking: Park far away

Piaa's are really loud. They had a booth at Rim of the World Rally and I was visiting them. I asked if I could check out the horn and they put their fingers in their ears. I didn't think they were going to be as loud as they were., but I got the attention of everyone in vendor row.

The front fender looked like it was in need of some paint anyway.
Try one of those "Dentless" pullers. Suction cups and touch-up paint.
Anyway, you can get a new fender blank for $100 and a used door skin for about $150. Mix up some base coat and clear coat and you're good to go..
Or, do what I did, repaint the whole car myself with BC/CC. So easy a caveman could do it.

I've ordered a nautilus. I just like the idea of complete PNP and want as small of a delay as possible when I push the horn button.

The car is pretty much covered in oxidized paint. It could definitely use a full paintjob but until then I'm gonna go over the whole the with swirl and scratch remover, it did wonders to the hood. Just gotta wait for a cloudy day which won't be anytime soon. The right fender is a blank primered because the PO ran the car into a guard rail (no frame damage).

Come to think of it, this is the second time the left fender has been backed into by a ford f150 lol. First time was befored I owned it but it happened at my house.

I got it estimated at 1.1k but the guy apparently missed the fact that the truck also hit my door. Still waiting on the driver to call his insurance back. This all happened on Thursday last week and I'm starting to wonder when they'll call me back.

damn that sucks but at least you were there when it happened and they had insurance. I got hit in a parking lot a month or so ago and came out of the store to find a huge dent in my rear quarter panel. Of course there was no note or anything, just a big dent and at least it didnt hit my door at all so i guess in that respect I am lucky.

Yeah I'm greatful that I happened to be in the car when it happened.

When I park I pull into the spot as far as I can. Since the miata is shorter than most cars the potential hit and runner will possibly hit a car parked next to you instead.

If I'm forced to park in a busy parking lot, I try NOT to go all the way in to a space. The car disappears too easily when surrounded by everyone else's vans, trucks, and suvs.

Just installed the nautilus. Took me 15 minutes. I have no idea why everyone says to undo the under belly shroud. I just put my arms through the 2 holes up on top. It sounds great!
