My car has been sitting for around 9 months. I went to start it today after charging the battery. It would crank but not even hiccup.

I sprayed starter fluid into throttle body. Car immediately fired up but would die after the starter fluid was gone.

I jumped fp/gnd in diagnostic box. I can hear a relay click but so not hear any audible noise from the fuel pump with the key in on position. I’m assuming I’m hearing the fuel pump relay click.

battery light and ecu light illuminated with key on so I think this rules out main relay.

I jumped fp/gnd in my other nb and beard relay click and also heard fuel pump running (this car works fine)

Is this a pretty definitive indication that the pump is dead? The pump worked when car was parked but I’ve heard of many pumps committing suicide when left unattended for long periods.

i have a dw200 Pump but if I need to install it I’m thinking it might be smart to get the track speed Rewire kit as well.

You are correct...the clicking is a fuel pump relay. Looks like your fuel pump is burnt toast. you can confirm that by checking power at the pump plug when the relay is engaged.

Suggest you get rid of the old gas in the tank while you are at it. Leaving a car sit without running for a long time is probably the worst thing you can do to a car other than wreck it.

Appreciate the reply and confirmation. Old gas will go. I only wanted to start the car to take a video of the engine running. The engine is coming out and being replaced with my forged 1.9 with mp62

the Dw200 was for the forged build so it was gonna get installed...just sooner than planned now haha.

is the general consensus to still use a stock miata fuel sock with the DW pumps?

I had a similar issue a few months back on my '90 NA with a DW200. I could jump the fp/gnd and get the relay in the engine bay to click but the car still wouldn't start. It ended up being the fuel pump circuit opening relay under the dash. Pull the connector off under the dash and jumper the white/red pin to the blue/red pin and see if you get power to the fuel pump.

I had a Walboro lock up after sitting a few months. Tried a few different things in hopes of saving it, but it never would free up. If you have another pump, just swap it in and play with the "dead' pump outside the tank.

I installed the DW 190 pump last Summer, and did use the stock pump sock, and the supplied one would not fit. The original sock had a ton of miles on it, but was in great shape, and has functioned fine.

Fuel pump relay pulled. That was less than fun. Relay looks good. Took cap off of it and all connections present. It was clicking with fp/gnd too. So all things point to the pump. Removed the seat. Ordering the trackspeed wiring kit today and hopefully have this fixed next week

I pulled the pump tonight. I connected the pump directly to a 12v battery. The pump did absolutely nothing so it looks like the pump was indeed dead.

I have a dw300 pump lying around in preparation for a forged/supercharged swap so I went ahead and installed it. Trackspeed Rewire Kit is en route.

my question now is the factory FPR inside the tank. Some people have had it work fine with the DW 300 and other have had issues. It is suggested that with a dw300 to look into adj fpr.

when using an adjustable FPR do you remove the stock fpr from inside the tank or is the external regulator more of a piggyback that works in conjunction with the factory fpr?

Put stock relay in to test and see if the new pump works...car fired right up and idled very well with the DW300. Will upgrade the wiring this coming week.
