Default Difficult Cold Starting

So,

I searched around m.net and found a few answers to my topic, however I still don't know exactly what I should do.

I've been having excessive crank issues when starting my Miata. Note: its N/A

When cold, it often times will take multiple cranks to get the car running. When it does, it seems to start at about 100rpm and over about 5 seconds, it then will slowly come to a normal idle.

I'm going to attempt to get a video of it tomorrow morning.

Note: this is a brand new motor, freshly rebuilt and still not completely broken in. However this was an issue with my previous motor too, so I know its nothing internal, and obviously has something to do with other engine parts. Please be easy, i'm a mechanical dweeb.

you logging your AFRs during this? Or is it stock?

With engine management, usually a slow rise in RPMs at start is a "too rich" situation.

But it depends on if you have separate cranking and post start enrichments. It may also be that your cranking is too lean and post start is too rich.

I suspect there will be lots of "my car wont starts" coming up after summer.

Its stock, so no logs, no AFR.

It scares me because it was like 84 degrees when I started during the video and I just moved to a land of real winters.

doesn't sound like the injectors are priming, or aren't priming the right amount of fuel.

When's the last time you ran some injector cleaner or changed the fuel filter? Some other issue causing it not to prime? TPS sensor stuck at WOT?

Once it is running is everything good as normal?

A little idle problems, but while breaking in the motor today, I've definitely found its related to the A/C cycling. When on '3' or '4' A/C it often will give me some rough (high idle as in 1200-1500 rpms) conditions.

But the car seems to drive fine. I definitely need to change the fuel filter though, it was on my list of things to do. A clogged fuel filter would do what?
