I'm tired of having stacks in the garage and was trying to think up of a summer project.

Do you guys have "racks" in your garage to store them? If seen some "racks" in the back of SCCA and Grassroots motorsports. Have you guys maybe built racks using lumber. Photos would really help

(keep in mind right now I have a total of 2 sets of wheels stored, 1 set of wheels on the car, and 1 set of unmounted used race tires)

If you must, just build a rack, I can't see it cost more than $50 in material. I happened to like woodworking, so that's a plus for me.

Stacked in the corner, on on top of the other... no rack. Any rack you could possibly design will take up more room than just stacking them on the floor.

I can't see justifying any expense to "store" my spare wheels/tires in a special manner unless you're into garage aesthetics. $50 worth of wood/metal-stock is halfway to a new fuel pump or braided brake-lines or something useful. IMHO.

You can always hang them on the wall, a friend of mine used to do that, worked well. Get some massive hooks try to find studs to screw them into, and you are set, they are off the floor and cheap at that.
Sam, I like building shelves, it's a hobby, so I can justify the extra cost.

That rack is now over-full.... I need to sell some tires.

And it is a very useful way to spend your money if you cant walk around your garage or move your car in or out because there are so many stacks of tires.

It holds about 3 sets of tires plus whatever I have stacked on top of it.

Ya, I guess... but what matters is that they are out of the way and in a space that would otherwise be un-used.

Crashnscar for the win!!! Beauty job, design and execution! Exactly what pitlab and the rest of us with extra sets of tires need. Could also suspend a similar rack from the ceiling if you already have shelves taking up space on the side or front of the garage. Just screw into the joists.

the garage is to small i think for that. I'm going to try and see if maybe I can create a vertical rack that i can anchor to a wall.

I'm already pissing people off by having all the tires and wheels, a trailer, and a huge rack of parts in the garage.

Where? That's cheap. I usually see those go for $20 for 2.... not the Michelin ones but the same product otherwise.
