Default Pic request (rollbar and stock seat belts)

I'm not a very imaginative person. I installed my rollbar and as expected, my seatbelts don't retract at all, and I have to pull with the strength of 1000 bulls to put it on.
Anyway. Does anyone have pics of what they did to fix this? I'm using a HDHCHT double diagonal, if it matters.

I have the Boss Frog adapters but they don't work very well.

I have a HDHCDD running a hard top and mine come out/retract fine. I know it's not the best pic but it's the only I can access since my hosting is down.

I used the Boss Frog adapters on my BF double hoop and found that they caused fraying of the edge of the seat belt when at extreme angles (like when the seat is upright or more forward). The fit is not as tight as the stock upper piece since it is designed to allow the entire buckle to fit through (not just the belt) so it allows the belt to fold some and rub. I ended up removing mine for fear the belt would tear in an accident.

Mine sucked at retracting... I lived with it.

Kinda crappy angle, but you can see that I had the belt routed to the outside of the rollbar...

Mine catch on the plastic trim where I didn't cut enough away... Is that your issue?

I didn't have any plastic remaining on mine as I removed the entire panel. But it still didn't retract properly.

My issue is that they interfere with part of the rollbar itself, if I remember correctly, where the bar bolts to the tower.

I will take a pic of what I mean later when xmas eve dinner has let me come out of its coma.

^^^the guy who posted the pic, so your seatbelts go under the bar it seems?

Mine is set up like the guy with the tan interior up there ^^^

For the record, mine don't retract at all. I can come to my car in the morning and put on the seatbelt just how I had left it the night before.

My drivers side doesnt retract at all. However my passanger side acts like stock. Both are configured in the same way, im starting to think its the seat belt retractor.

I took my retractors apart, wound the clockspring one turn tighter, cleaned and graphite lubed everything, it helped a little. I am going to try another turn on the spring, when I get a round towit, but not really sure it will go another turn.

It is really tricky to wind the spring!

I have the HDHCHT in my 2000. Sorry no pics. The only time I have a problem with retracting is with the seat pushed the way back or fully reclined. In those positions the belt is forced to "curl" on itself as it retracts and jams. Try moving the seat out of the way.

Just maybe, MAYBE, my problem has something to do with that growth on the bar. I'm assuming its for a harness or brace or something of the sort.
Does everyone elses bar have this?

I had to move the belt towards the back to get a good pic, the seatbelt is not normally that disfigured.

I may be on crack but i think you may have the belt guide mounted in the wrong hole. It should be in the one forward of the bar - the empty hole in your pic. - not the one where it came out of before the bar went in.

Possibly, the roll bar was missing some hardware so maybe I do need to bolt the guide to the forward hole.
Anyone else have some input regarding this?
it LOOKS like you're right.

EDIT: Yup....RTFM next time. I did put the guides on the wrong bolt.
I'm gonna have a hell of a time getting that long *** bolt back in through the roll bar to get the guide out.

Seat Belt Reel and Guide Installation Instructions:
This applies to all year models. Remove enough material from the web of the shoulder
harness guide to allow it to rotate as far forward as possible, until the loop hits the bar.
Remove metal from the side only as shown in the photo so as not to weaken the guide.
'94 - '00 seat belt reels. With the seat belt reel pulled away from the car remove the 2 pop
rivets that hold the upper bracket to the reel and remove the bracket. This will prevent the
reel from being wedged behind the bar causing the belt to retract slower. On the early
models and '00 up simply bend the small tab on the upper bracket down flat to allow the
reel to lean inboard for better belt alignment.

-------------------------
You did the above correct?

Pictures can be located on the last few pages of the install guide (http://www.bethania-garage.com/install_instructions.htm)

This might help too...
REMOVE THE LOWER SEAT BELT REEL BOLTS (16mm pre'94 17mm '94 and later) AND
SPACERS. Also remove seat belt reel alignment screw at the top of the mounting bracket
(small screw w/ 10mm head). Pull the complete assembly forward and bend the alignment
tab down flat, this will allow the reel to tilt inward for better seat belt alignment and
retraction after the bar is installed.

I did not do the above. I actually have a hard time (seriously) visualizing written instructions, and the pictures that were on there didn't help much.

Actually I'm looking at the instructions for my bar right now, and it says nothing about that. Only says to bolt the guides in the forward hole.

On the picture I posted.. see where the seat belt guides meet the roll bar? Some of the material on the guides needs to be grinded off. Just a bit.
