Talking Is this a good price for this turbo miata?

I'm considering buying this 1991 turbo miata. I just need a car to get to school and back and maybe, some joy rides around the roads here . Is $3,000 a fair price for this miata? The exterior is pretty clean little blemishes here and there. Interior is also decent clean for a 1991 car.

Clean Title
-150k Miles on car ( Unknown on motor )
-5spd tranny
-LSD installed
-New brakes all around
-Greddy turbo kit (has carb number)
-Cat delete
-Cat needed to pass smog check
-Real jdm front mount intake cooler
-Ebay boost cantroller and BOV
-Koni ajustble shocks and h&r spring
-Newer miata rims tires still more than 50%
-Good interior (7.5 / 10)
-New cd mp3 player
-Paint looks good (7/10)
-New clutch installed 4 months ago.
Cons:
-Soft top won't open because a hard plastic on the back window is installed
-Need right side mirror
-NO power steering or windows

I drove it and it feels good. Not much power but, if I had to guess it's about 140-150hp Is that what the greddy would get with 7-8psi boost? But it shifts good and everything feels okay. So, yeah. Decent deal?

Sorry I'm noob. Planning to learn more about turbos and miatas from this car if bought. Thanks

if it's the stock ecu and the stock injectors, you do not need a WBO2.

you only need that if you are running larger injectors and anything piggyback or stand-alone.

EDIT: you do not "need" one, but i'm not saying it is not smart to have one. for <200 dollars this can be a key part to a safe operating FI motor.

Sounds like a pretty decent deal. Is that the original motor? If your not sure you can match the vin # on the oil pan vs the car. When was the last time timing belt/waterpump was done?

I see. He told me he has a fuel map that makes it run a tad bit richer than stock. But, what would you say overall? no go or go?

How did he change the fuel map? To change the fuel map you actually need to connect to the standalone ecu. Hes probably talking about the FPR. How does he know its running richer without a wideband?

+1. without a wideband (or a really inaccurate method of measuring exhaust gas temps through voltage outputs of the factory o2 sensors), you can't know whether it's running richer or leaner.

as far as whether it's a good deal or not, if you plan on keeping it the same way it is power-wise, then go for it. it's about the cost of a running 91 with that amount of mileage + the cost of the greddy kit.

if you really get power and boost hungry, the greddy kit will not suffice. and i mean the kit in it's entirety. really the only downfall about this car is it's a 1.6. but...my first miata was a 91 1.6 with 211k miles on it, and i drove the hell out of that car.

I'll ask him about the motor. He said the timing belt and waterpump is still good, his relatives own a mechanic shop. ( thats where he lifted the car to show me the bottom of the car. ) He said it was inspected by them and himself.

If you don't know much about turbo miata, don't get it. First, you won't be able to identify the setup, which tells alot about the owner. Second, if something malfunctions, you havn't got a clue how to fix it.
Put your location up.

He said he's unsure about the motor as of now and will check asap. He said he "THINKS" the ecu was already modded for a turbo. o.o

I see. You have a point. How should I start learning about turbos then? I'm in the Bay Area.

Hes full of ****. Ask for records of when the TB/WP was done. If he cant provide offer him 2500 for it. That will set you back at least that much. Also what LSD did he say it has; Torsen, Viscous, or RX7? Torsen or RX7 is the one you want, The swap alone is around 500-800 dollars for the parts depending on where you source them (or how lucky you get). It would be a fun learner car.

basically the torsen and the strut and spring combo are the only thing this car is worth, IMO. the guy doesn't sound like he knows much about this car. im with SKM^^^. cut the price by 10-15% and it might be a deal.

as far as learning about miatas and FI on them, stay here. and read. a lot. also prepare to go broke as *****.
