Good Radiators?
#82
i joined this forum to leanr more about my car and to learn better setups as i have gone through many myself. i can take all the **** dished, and i can also give it right back. i also joined for advice on more hp. i know this is off topic but what is everyone running for a turbo setup? and do you like it, what are you puttin down, and any problems? i myself have the fm t3/t4 turbo and it is great when it stays on the car, but i still feel theres more power that can come out of it....

why is everyone obsessed with banning people?

Yes i know that so i dont know why people are still posting/ trashing
i think i changed the topic a while ago from rads to ecus and i got the question answered. so honestly i have no idea why people are still posting in here unless they have more input on my problems....

If you really can't handle this thread anymore, ask a mod to close and lock it for you. As I've said before, chill the **** out with posting. It's not a race to 1M posts. Sit back and take the **** and dish it out when appropriate. When you keep responding to people's off topic comments, they won't stop. While this is fun for us, you'll either go crazy and leave or end up getting banned.

of course i have an intercooler, its the one that comes stock with the fm kit, i had to duct ALL air going through the front air damn straight through the radiator(yes my intercooler is in front). I herd a few rumors about rerouting from cyl #4 there is some sort of mixing between the cold and hot coolant. i dont use tap water idiot, I RUN ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!! limerock park,CT best time 1:01.56 (amature races) full interior.
1fastmiata should check out cr.net. lots of excellent advice over there. they might actually be impressed by his racing accomplishments.
p.s.: my money is on paul if you guys decide to take them to the track. i'm sure he won't overheat.

We haze here like you wouldn't believe, but if you wise the **** up you'll enjoy one of the most intelligent, informative forums on the net.
You need to consider, in this order:
-bigass radiator (godspeed)
-bigass fans/shroud (make it yourself)
-ducting and an air scooper
-coolant reroute
-vented hood
-increased airflow (cut holes in your bumper)

Like i have mentioned before, thank you for your advice, I have all the ducting a miata could have, except i saw an aftermarket front bumber that i didnt necessarily like but it had humungus air flow cap.
i read up a little on the coolant reroute.... (i havent taken anything apart) how exactly do you change the routing of the #4 cylinder coolant?
I have a vented hood... actually kind of better... i raised the rear of the hood 1.5" and it creates a cowl induction and also produces 2 small scoops in the front
i have the original opening, 2 side openings, and where the blinkers are have air ducts

have you done any before and after testing of these mods you have done? i know people say do this, do that when it comes to getting colder engine bay temps and coolant temps but a lot of them are counter productive and work against each other. you should do/undo one of those mods at a time and data log the results with repetitive as possible conditions.
now granted i don't run 18zillion lbs of boost like you, just a paltry 14 to make 271hp to the wheels but with my GODSPEED radiator and coolant reroute(as described on my website: hint hint) the only heat related problem i have on my car is keeping the engine temp warm enough, above 160, so it's not in warm up enrichment mode. I currently drive the car with the radiator half blocked off with a plastic shield and i even installed a snail shaped thing that heats up the coolant as it passes through to achieve this.
btw, i have no additional ducting weighing my car down. i run with the factory belly pan. i have the stock turn signals(so people can actually see that i am turning). i run the stock hood in the stock position. i do not have AC blocking my radiator/intercooler.
food for thought:
if air supposed to come through the mouth of the car through the radiator then why would you want air to come in from the back of the hood a la cowl induction fashion and also through the turn signal openings. wheres all that air going? you can't just keep shoving air in, it changes flow patterns. you need a method of venting the heated air. a proven method. a method that aids in more air flow through the radiator. the radiator cools your coolant, not the engine. so think about how to get more cool fresh air through that. i bet you are doing the opposite with this raised hood idea although i am sure the guys over at clubricer would disagree with me.
I'll race you anytime you want at Limerock. My name is Eric Gebhardt, my track car is a black 95. i'll be the guy in front of you, plate FLYNMX5 if you have really good eyesight
