Post What to look for?

Hey everyone,
i am relatively new to the site and had a question.

I am thinking of buying a 1.6l Miata 1990-1993, because my friend who just graduated from UTI says it is an affordable car that has many after market parts. I would be looking to drop a turbo from bell engineering into it, and doing new injectors and cooling systems... but now to the question!

What should i really look out for Pro's and Cons?

Get a 94+ car instead. Better brakes, diff, engine, suspension etc.

Alright thank you, i thought about it... but the 1.6 does have more after market parts then the 1.8.

Yeah, not really. We have a slight advantage in eBay cast manifolds.....that's about it. All the latest and greatest stuff being produced for miatas is done by the hardcore track racing companies, and guess what....they all race BP's.

However, some people are outrageous B6 purists and will never swap motors. Those people are crazy and need professional help

Depending on where you live, older cars may be cheaper to register and be emissions/inspection exempt.

NBs are cheap these days and are better than NAs in many, many ways.

+1 to Gearhead's post... though the only advantage i can see getting an earlier build is having ODBI

OBDI lasted until '96.

So you're saying that your fran went to UTI and all he could do was tell you that a 90-93 Miata is a cheap car? LoL...education moneys well spent.

check for rust in the trunk under the battery, under the tray to the left. under the doors near the frame rails, next to the wheel wells. see if there is a leak of any kind, check the dip stock for shiny particles of metal. drive the car(beat on it), go through all the gears ( reverse also ). tell the owner not to warm it up before you go to look for it. if it doesn't have a ***** shifter don't buy it.
