Default Horrible Experience: Mazmart!

Hey guys, I know I haven't really posted much here, but I'm a big lurker and will be joining the ranks with a turbo kit on the way from BEGI. Hopefully this isn't against the rules or in the wrong forum, if it is I apologize. I'm just trying to save some of you guys the junk that I've been put through.

I ordered a torsen differential conversion kit from Mazmart on May 20th. I ordered from them because they were close by and supposedly had it in stock. I had an autocross event the 31st and wanted to make sure I'd have the kit in time to have it installed. They told me it would ship out the next day and be 1-2 days later, since they're close by (Atlanta to South FL). On May 27th I called and they said they had problems with the axles and that it would ship out the next day. Needless to say autocross came and went w/o an LSD. Well, finally the package arrives June 4th. Not a horrible wait I suppose. I was disappointed that it took over 2 weeks instead of 3 days I was promised, but no big deal.

I take a half day today at work, come home early and start tearing the rear end apart. Get everything out, install the diff, driveshaft, axles and I realize... no axle nuts. Mazmart sold me a differential conversion kit without the axle nuts? So I immediately grab my 1.6 nut, and see if it fits. Absolutely no way, it's not even close to fitting.

I call Mazmart to ask them about it, thinking maybe they'll apologize for the goof up and ship some down to me real quick. The guy tells me that they send out half of them with the nuts and half without. Then he tells me that if I didn't get the axle nut that I was supposed to reuse my 1.6 nut. I told him that it doesn't fit and he tells me, "I don't want to sound like I'm arguing with you, but you're wrong." Then he hangs up on me!

I was blown away! I got a friend to drive me up to the Mazda dealership and the nuts are $17 a piece and it will be a week before they arrive! I came back home, took everything back apart and put it all back together with the 1.6 diff back in the car. This is certainly not a fun or easy task, if you've never done it before. Finally finished at 9:15, back where I started and VERY irritated.

I'm not sure what course of action there is to take. Spreading the word about the horrible service is the best thing I could think of. I'm going to run by the bank tomorrow and see if there's anything they can do to get my money back. Certainly not that I have any intension of stealing the kit from them or anything, but it'd be nice to have some kind of bargaining power, maybe then at least get them to talk to me.

Thanks for reading, it feels nice to vent.

Whaddya mean you haven't posted here "much". You haven't posted here EVER! And your first post is to talk **** about a major forum sponsor... I wonder if there's a motive?

Since I know a guy who knows a guy... we'll wait and hear the other side of the story before making any conclusions.

Didn't even realize it was my first post. Sure, assume what you want but there's no motive and I'm not a competitor or anything, just a client getting screwed over. I'm fairly new to Mazdas came from an S2000. Username: ScottRunsXC on S2ki and pdexta on M.net (I've got a few more posts there, if that's any credibility. You can look through my posts there to see that I am genuinely a Miata owner/lover). I posted the same story there as well. Do what you want with the thread, I'm just trying to spread the word of my mistreatment. If you "know a guy that knows a guy" then send him my way. I'd love nothing more than to be able to talk to them.

I actually tried an S2000 nut. My old SC'd S2000 use to eat axles pretty frequently so I had a few nuts laying around. They're too big. Thanks for the tip though. Maybe I can pick some up at a junkyard.

Sam,
I didn't know that MAZMART was a Forum Sponsor here?
Maybe "there", but not "here"
I have to say, for $1100 smackers, I would be pretty pissed about the delay and more pissed if when I received the parts it was missing items that would make the whole purchase worthless

For $1100 the diff should have a gold plate with your name on it too!

THANK YOU for your kind sentiments! A moderator and fellow SWFL Miata driver!!! I've seen you on M.net. I'm in Fort Myers, perhaps I can stop by Bonita and show you my bank statement if you have any questions as to the legitimacy of the transaction! (of course, I'll have to walk there unless you're willing to wait a week or so)
