This looks like an interesting concept? Uses a lot of parts from the donor car (Miata) to keep the cost down. I wish I could find some better pictures. I am not sure what it really looks like, the front looks clumsy somehow. MEV will import directly, after removing the VAT and adding shipping you could get a kit to the US for about $4300.

Just another locost frame builder, going for the Atom look. Lots of them out there. Probably dozens more that don't have a fancy website. For $2600+, find a local welder to fab one up for you, and save a grand.

I just wanted to bump this for those interested in knowing that they will be making these in the states. They have been getting pretty good reviews from a lot of the magazines overseas and I can really understand why.

While I may not like the looks as much as I could, the all black version looks good. I think this will be my next project. At $5999 for the everything you don't need from the donor car, it is very affordable. Final weight should be around 550-600kg or 1212-1322lbs. Turbo it, put some Xida CS on it and you will have a bad mamma jamma.

I may rework the front nose and rear cover to more of my liking since they are fiberglass.

This one may be dark purple, but you get the idea. I had a hell of a time finding this picture, but there are more flattering pictures out.

Just another locost, ripping off the Atom, and with terrible bodywork. For 6 grand, you could buy the proven stuff from Caterham or another established builder. And it wouldn't look nearly as fugly.

****, for about 8.5k, you can have a Stalker. S-10 running gear (cheap, reliable, plentiful) and a V-6. I've seen versions with the Buick supercharger. After having driven a standard locost, I'm certain anything more than 150HP is insanity.

I really want to know where you can buy a caterham kit for $6000. The base stalker kit is $10,000 and options can be very expensive. The MEV kit uses miata parts that are readily available and cheaper than what stalker wants for some of their upgrades. It's kind of apples to oranges.

They are just starting a racing class for these things in the UK. Its a stripped out track ready version, one seat and a roll cage.

Control weight for the exocet cup: 860kg
Control weight for spec miata: 940kg (some need ballast)

Unless they drive around with 250kg's of ballast that thing is retarted.

The guy/designer/owner popped up on MX5Nutz trying to peddle the MEVX5 which looks like an Elise wannabe. He introduced himself by stating the NA/NB MX5 looks dated, way to win over your audience.

Everything they make looks utter gash IMO.

Okay, it's not pretty, but neither is a legit Atom. Even the wide body 7 copies look terrible. The KTM X-bow looks like a Tyco R/C car.

If it goes good, I don't care much if it looks bad.

They do a control weight without the driver on the spec cars there? Control weight for the exocet is with a driver. Their demo car weighs in at 700kg and it has a fair amount it could lose from there.

Exactly the attitude I have. If I can get a concrete possible weight out of someone then that will help. This is very much a function over form thing to me. That and I have very little time to build a kit car and this one is cheap and easy. Plus great suspension is readily available and not just a general coil over like some of the other guys.

I read from one of the shops that was jockeying for the rights to build these kits in the US that it only cuts about 650 lbs from the curb weight, however. I guess that'd put the average NA down to around 1800 lbs? I was really hoping it'd be closer to 1500 lbs.

I know that their demo car weighed in at 700kgs or ~1500lbs. They even said that there was a lot of weight that could still be remove at that point.

Jack of Kinetic Vehicles was looking to build them here, but they had a falling out. A guy in Atlanta named Kevin Patrick will be the US dealer now.
