Largest gathering of turbo Miatas in Houston EVER
#22
That was Cinco De Mayo Dyno Day III put on by Jimmy Hemphill. CDMDD II was in Automobile Magazine - Jean Lindamood Jennings was there at Jimmy's invitation and wrote about it. In '01 at CDMDDIII we had cars from Ohio, Canada, Colorado, etc. There was even a guy there from Singapore on vacation. The purple car is Rick (Racing Mazda) and he pulled darn near 400 rwhp. I believe that 93 Black & Red was an FM III (external wastegate). Bill Cardell, Corky Bell, and Shiv Pathak were all there too. El Fez, Bill Clifford (and the Yellow Sub), Drake Daum were there. IIRC, Bill and Corky had installed an FM II the previous day on Clifford's business partner's car (one-day install). Did a handful of tuning runs on the street, then put it on the dyno (this day was only one or two pulls each car, more competition than tuning). It was a Good Day.
btw, you should have seen how the ice cream truck guy cleaned up when he showed up around 2:00 after we'd all be standing around in 95 degrees/95% humidity all day.

And I sure bought my share of icecream. rainbow miata flavor
I dont know if you remember a black miata with a DIY T3/T4 aka the micro monster. I went out with him and did some setup runs on his HKS EBC as it was acting up.

They do happen to be, in fact, HDR. I wasn't using HDR to capture the extra contrast specifically, but because running them through Photomatix lets me prettify them (Crank up the saturation) without having to use Photoshop. I suck at Photoshop.
Mazda/Nissan:
This pic is highly saturated with color, notice how my car appears VERY red, and the grass is VERY green.
This an unedited exposure of the 3 that made up the above picture.
Now which one do you like more?
Stephanie: That would be awesome!
