Default CAI!! For an NC, recommendations?

Hey everyone - I know NA and "performance" don't belong in the same thread, but my sister bought an NC and I've heard people say good things about CAI for that motor. She's not monkeying with exhaust, but, I might just get her to do a CAI.

Any suggestions? The RB unit looks awesome with it's scoop, but it retains the factory flex tube, which much kill it's performance. The Mazdaspeed/AEM one gets high rankings from a lady I trust, and she said some group did back to back dyno runs and found more power the longer the intake (as in, a 10' straight tube helped!)...

The K&N looks like a joke. Someone did a copy of the Monsterflow (which I've never seen) for like $65, but all the pics were gone.

Anyway, poking around for suggestions/pics.

You really can't go wrong with AEM/Mazdaspeed in my opinion. A quick google search shows several positive reviews. Oddly enough, the Mazdaspeed CAI is more expensive then AEM's, but I'm guessing it's just the distributor toying with the prices.

Interesting. Mazdaspeed Motorsports sell the "mazdaspeed" one at that same price - around $260. I think, I have to look it up. RB suggests they are the same so get the AEM. :-)

If they are the same price, then I would definitely go with AEM

P.S, love the sig man, Pulp Fiction is by far, my favorite movie of all times!

Are DIY intakes not legal for smog? EDIT < doh, i mean carb

Cuz I'd suggest you make your own rather then spend a couple hundred on a brand name one.

In CA, fuzzy dice hanging from your rear-view mirror need to have a CARB EO number to be smog legal.

Well, not really, but damn near anything short of that.

Air intakes are near the top of the ARB's hot-button list, since they're so popular and so inexpensive.
