I may play around a bit if I can safely. I don't need any crazy tickets though you can imagine what bad insurance rates would do to me having to insure several shop cars . As Ben said spring isn't that far away. I'm thinking a good vid of Ben outrunning me down Atlanta Dragway would be nice, maybe some in car vid at Road A, AutoX vids. etc.

No man I don't want you to get into trouble. I was thinking on ramps because you're pretty much expected to accelerate up them, but I didn't know about the construction on 85, I'm about 2.5 hours away lol.

Spring will be a good time, especially if we get the spring dyno meet ironed out

As for donuts with n/a power, these cars do awesome donuts period, but n/a, you're not going to get close to this as you'll be stuck in 1st gear which doesn't get the tire temps up and doesn't produce anywhere near as much smoke. I was launching in 2nd from a stop at several points in that vid and immediately lighting them up .
I disagree...

He had to quit because the car ran out of gas..

He probably dissagreed with some part of your quote, your guess as to which part... He's just a modest man is all.

Sorry I thought I trimmed your quote down about the N/A part. Or maybe I thought the video would have made my post obvious.

I disagree with an N/A car not able to make that kind of smoke. True that you can't use second gear, and about another 80 or 90 wheel horsepower makes a huge difference in donuts..

The statement was mostly about 2nd gear, which will spin the wheels much faster, putting much more heat into them and making much more smoke.... But sure, 1st gear will make some good smoke and the car will do that great n/a. But I don't think the example video linked above has much on the total smoke blackout we had going on. I had to stop a couple times as I couldn't tell how close I was to the buildings any more, and even though I was pretty sure I was in the clear there was no way to know for sure but to stop and roll out of the cloud.

I wonder if I could rip 3rd gear loose from a stop, in donut stance... The clutch will start to complain eventually. I do still have the matching pair of tires to burn... I'm not going to drive on them.

So sure, no doubt 1st gear will smoke, 2nd = more wheelspeed = more heat more smoke. Tires will play a role too, some smoke more than others....

If you've got a big enough parking lot try a rolling start. Stock clutch can't take a 1-2 shift with power, so we found if you start driving in second around a circle, upset the balance a bit and stab the throttle. Works wonders for us.

How would I know it glows if I never seen one first hand, and the brief glimpse of it in the video doesnt show it glowing either.

This is a Spec Stage 3, 4-puck. It hangs pretty good though it felt a little weak for a few minutes after that little exhibition, until the fluid cooled off I'm guessing .

Anyone not showing their MS off is bogus. Cut a hole in the shield and carpet, replace with lexan. That would be nice. I wouldn't do it but it would be pretty damn cool. The extension harness is better.
I probably wouldn't show mine off if i had one really, afraid of it being stolen.

Four puck?? Whered you get that? Aside from beating on it like that, how does that clutch hold? I bought the Stage 3 six-puck which obviously holds N/A great.

It's been great so far... I've got a Spec Stage-3 6-puck in my MR2 and 4-puck in the Miata, both get some good 'exercise' though the Miata puts alot more to the ground at this point. It's fairly streetable though it will chatter a bit if you let it, but it's all business when needed. I think it's about right for this car. The 6 puck in the MR2 doesn't have quite the tendency to chatter, it will but not quite as bad. They'll build it in a 6-puck too if you want.

i've also got a 4-puck ACT..... and this is after having a 3-puck Exedy lol. Both were used for DD and had little problems (as long as you don't use a Exedy clutch with a Fidanza flywheel).

Dang I didn't know you could get the SPEC In 4 puck. Ohwell. The 6 puck seems fine so far, but I noticed its REAL grabby when you start to engage it. Other than that pedal feel seems stock to me, but its been a couple years since I've driven a true stock clutched miata. Still doesn't have anything pedal feel to the stupid speed6. My left leg is larger than my right just from driving that car I swear. Its super soft on the floor for about 1/3 travel then gets really heavy and just wants to fly out. Hardest clutch I've driven, but it clamps and thats what I care about.
