Default '09 Msm?

So, is there any reason not to sell everything you own and buy a 09 MSM? I'm not exactly sure one's coming out, etc, but odds look good it will be a 2.0-2.3l, direct injection turbo motor, and if it's not 250 whp, easily bumpable to 350 I'll be shocked.

Combine that with an amazing chassis, multi-link rear end, integrated roll hoops, still ligthweight, extra A/C ducts, and all the awesome goodness of a modern new car....

Really, except for the likely super-30k pricetag, I can't IMAGINE a reason not to get one. It's just bad ***. What do any of our cars have over that?

There will be no 09 MSM. last I heard, mazda axed the idea "offoicall and publically" you could probably find the interview or article with a little googling. Making the current 2.3 motor that they have in everything else causes to many fitment issues when trying to make it work in RWD format on the current miata chassis.

Could they just *say* the motor is in there, so when aftermarket people do the swap, it'll pass emissions?

I guess if you can't do it, you can write about it. Seriously.

What makes that motor cool? a 4 cyl turbo? No. High specific output? Somewhat.

But it's direct injected. It's the heart of the motor, the only really pretty-new thing in it.

Well, the engine will fit, but unless they cut a hole in the firewall the water pump won’t.
Yeah, that makes sense. Where is the water pump on this motor? Maybe they mean the bumper. But, no, that doesn't make sense either, certainly a water pump could be figured out. Well, like 99% of content on the web these days, this is a copy. From another blog.

Follow the link, to find:
According to Barnes, "It does theoretically fit, until you bolt on the head." A high-pressure fuel pump on the back of the head, driven off the cam, would necessitate a notch in the firewall.
Ok, that makes more sense. Sucky, but makes sense. How come turbodiesels (even higher pressures!) can manage this coming in on what is essentially a banjo fitting, and mazda can;t? God only knows.

I guess I'll have to poke my head under the hood of a MS3 and see what the big whoop is. Drive the pump off the front of the cam? For 150 hp, I think it'd be reasonable.
