starting the rediculous NB questions
My front STB brackets appear to be on the wrong side. The driver's bracket as a R embossed in it and the passenger's bracket has a L embossed on it. But the brackets look the same otherwise. Any reason to deal with switching them around?

For shizzle.
But people really do seem to like the 10AE bar over the later sport package bar. I had quite a few requests for it and a lot of positive feedback from other NB owners.

Sam, that's not a factory piece. Plus it's on a NA. I'd guess AutoExe maybe, but there's a few companies that make a 3 point brace like that.
Here's the 99AE bar. Being that the AE is Hard Suspension, it might be the same on all 99-00 Hard Suspension cars, I don't know.

Y8's, is that a painted OEM piece. I assume based on Ben's post that it's a 10AE unit? What year did Miata's come with STB's standard and which year has the best design.
My '93 pushed like a big-dog with an STB attached no matter what I did with my suspension/tire settings.

Its a brace made by Okuyama/Carbing that was being branded by Jackson Racing also. The thing weighs nothing. I have the V version of it, never got my hands on the triangulated one.

sorry sam, didn't mean to jock with your brains.
there doesn't seem to be any obvious offset fore or aft on that bar, ben. I assume the bar is backwards too, not just the brackets?

I took a look at mine and the tower mounts for the STB offset the bar aft of the upper shock mount centers and the crossbar places it back even more. The whole STB is mounted backwards. Its the best way to get more clearance for those nice heat shields without making any parts and affecting the main function of the STB.
