The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider Is From Japan. Its Engine Is From Italy. How Does That Work?

What a cool article that doesn't say anything.

That said, I am curious what plants do produce the 1.4L turbo outside of Mexico and Poland for the 500.

I guess.
It doesn't help that they still refuse to boost them, and slapping sti stickers onto an otherwise same car with different wheels and a lip kit is kinda insulting

Several hours later, I returned to the car, once all of the journo scrum had receded. I asked the product specialist if, indeed, the engine is made in Italy. Yes, she replied. They are all made in Termoli, east of Rome. I asked if the car is, indeed, completed in Japan. Yes, she replied. Final assembly is in Hiroshima.

Scion and Subaru's stubbornness regarding those sweet little cars is positively infuriating.

toyburu botched that car. McPherson suspension like a camaro. a non turbo flat 4 with the same Tq as a dishwasher. All the hipster kits throwing that rocket bunny kit on it makes me sad.
that being said the frame rails are in different zip codes. makes engine swaps that much easier. i might grab one in the future if the stance kids move on to something else. they are also the reason i can't own a s13.

Yeah, BMWs prove that Mac setups always suck. *rollseyes*

Do you know how wide the car would have to be to fit a double-wishbone with the boxer engine?

I suspect one more generation and done. They aren't going to boost the car. Even if you put the FA20DIT (turbo is even lower than the last gen engine and the Twins are even lower to the ground), you now have a car that costs as much as the STi and is faster. Even thought they are very different cars, the STi is Subaru's "halo" car.

The BRZ limited is already a $28k car or no options FR-S for just under $25k. Make it $35k and who is going to buy it?

yea but bmw nails it on some very important aspects. the inline 6, the fact they are light weight because they come without turn signals. it's small but they add up.

Agreed on the Macpherson's.

As for everything else... If Subaru believed that the BRZ was competition for the similarly-priced WRX, they would not have created the car. In the same vein, a turbo version with the same output as the WRX would not be stealing STI sales. They're completely different cars. That's just my opinion, but it's a stupid reason IMO to not turbo the BRZ.

Why would it be $35k with a turbo? Even a $5k premium (which, looking at the Forester turbo/non turbo, is still being generous) it'd be $32k fully loaded.

And... at $35k for a fully loaded turbo BRZ you're still $5k (or more) away from a loaded STI... not to mention cheaper than anything RWD that'd legitimately compete with it.

Perhaps Mazda has gained some percentage of ownership interest in Fiat for providing them with the Chassis?

That wasn't your chest.

And it wasn't pain.

Did your father never give you "the talk"?
