That car is sexy as ****. I couldn't care less that it isn't traditional mazda. It will age well too. I think they nailed it. I really want one.

I was trapped in the office after hours dealing with a retarded consultant and I am very ******* disappointed I missed this live. Kinda. Reading the commentary with no context is all kinds of

So when they bring this out to Laguna tomorrow, I'll jump in and pull the hood release, someone open the hood and everyone else can start snapping pics. Who is with me?!

I think it looks brilliant.

Is it just me or in little ways does it look like the designers saw the Catfish and were like, "hmmmm.... yess... maybe a liiiitle bit of that..."

Ungh, yeah that. I just worked 2x 12+hr days back to back and I'm losing a minimum of half a vacation day tomorrow. Forgive me if I can't remember what day this is, I'm starting to get a little punchy. Should make for a great weekend

FM has killer pics from the event up on Facebook for those who are so inclined. https://www.facebook.com/flyinmiata

Completely agreed. The rear (and front for that matter) looks like a japanese reface of an Alfa. Especially the rear, looks kind of like the multilayer GTV back.

Edit: Looks like a take on the 4c rear end in some ways.

I'm liking the style. Overall the design looks good, the front could be less "happy mouth" but it's clean. I wish they went with an oval bumper intake.

Believe me--I know EXACTLY what it's like to say that my car looks like someone else's design. Z3 this, Jaguar that, fugly this, why didn't you do that. These designers usually are in a competition with other design teams from other countries, and get pushed and pulled based on what corporate wants in the vehicle, and what "legal" will let them get away with.

It ain't easy, and I think Mazda's done a spectacular job...and not just because it's got a family resemblance.

The more I look at it, the more I like it. I'm liking it a LOT.

But more than anything I just can't wait to drive it. After seeing what they did with the 3 , this is going to be absolutely fantastic to drive.

So they've finally designed one that looks like something a heterosexual male might buy new. Too bad the reputation is already slightly faggy or they could have more sales. Guys like power. If they build enough power into it then it will do well. If the engineers that designed the very first Miata weren't so hung up on keeping the power level low then the car would have done even better off the bat. The original '90 should have had an optional 2.x liter engine and this new one should have 200 advertised hp turbo as an option to keep up with the times.

Absolutely , 200hp is needed for this car. Why can't mazda build engines like Honda. They have a good 2.5l to start with, a revised head and intake and a 91 octane minimum would do that trick

The two tire sizes shown so far are 205/45-17 and 195/50-16 which are about the same total tire diameter as a 225/50-15. The NDs brakes aren't gigantic- I am holding out hope that we can stick 15's on there and continue to enjoy cheap wheels and tires.

**** that. I'm holding out hope that there'll end up being wider 23"ish diameter tires to go on the 17s. I would convert to 17s in order to get wider than my current slicks if they came in the right diameter. Or on a street car I would totally rock the 17s if it got me wider street tires in the correct diameter.

It's everyone trying to say how much they hate the ND and how the NC was the pinnacle of both Mazda engineering and design. They're a bunch of pearl clenchers.

Go back to mnet so you can live in unicorn dream land. Why can't Mazda make engines like Honda? Honda is the #1 manufacturer of internal combustion engines IN THE WORLD. They have the expertise and development. I'm sorry to break it to you that Mazda doesn't have a motorcycle or F1 division to draw experience from, but those are the breaks. The Miata formula has always been the FWD econo motor turned sideways, and huge surprise... the ND is going to have a FWD econo motor turned sideways.

I think that if the rated horsepower is above 165HP, we'll be absolutely golden.
